July 7, 201510 yr After years of happily simming with a short throw projector Im changing to a TV display. The main reason being Im retired and have a lot of daytime that I cant fully use because the projector needs a darker room for optimum display and I dont fancy sitting in a dark room in the middle of the day The TLC Chinese brand is heavily promoted here in Thailand and after a fair bit of research it turns out the reviews are quite good for its price range (around $600) Just to be safe I want to run the specs here to see if there is anything that screams out dont buy this thing for FSX Any input or advice is welcome. The specs tab is in the link http://www.tclusa.com/currentmodels/55fs4690/ ZORAN
July 7, 201510 yr Hi Zoran, I don't know about this: in my opinion having "only" 1080p on a 55" TV is asking for all kinds of pixel visibility and poor resolution. I am flying a 2550x1440 display on a 27" display, and I cannot imagine going back to such a coarse resolution relative to the real estate. July 7, 201510 yr Author John, You are of course correct and I have given it thought already and it really comes down to a trade off , Immersion vs pixels. Coming from a projector screen I know the value of life sized clouds , airports etc so Im happy to do that trade. Im not worried about instrument clarity although I don't expect it to be an issue . I run a separate screen and have hardware as well so I shouldn't need to sit so close that Im bombarded with pixels ZORAN
