July 15, 201510 yr In the aircraft.cfg in the Airbus, I have a few 'fx_dummy' in there, in the 'Effects' section? I don't understand - why there's a 'fx_dummy' for almost all of the entries... The PrecipFX package seems to be installed fine - but is commented out... it looks weird. Is it supposed to look that way? Because none of the Airbus Immersion effects, are showing up in the sim! I've pasted my 'Effects' section below: [EFFECTS] vaportrail_l = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect vaportrail_r = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect l_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect r_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect vaportrail_l = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect vaportrail_r = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect l_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect r_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //WheelSnowSpray=fsfx_PFX_L_WheelSnowSpray //FSFX_PFX_Effect //SnowEngineWash=fsfx_PFX_L_SnowEngineWash //FSFX_PFX_Effect //WheelWetSpray=fsfx_PFX_L_WheelWetSpray //FSFX_PFX_Effect //WetEngineWash=fsfx_PFX_L_WetEngineWash //FSFX_PFX_Effect SkidPavement=fsfx_PFX_L_skidmark //FSFX_PFX_Effect wake = fx_wake water = fx_spray dirt = fx_tchdrt concrete = fx_sparks touchdown=fsfx_320_wheels_touchdown, 1 //FSFX_AFIM_Effect SnowEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect WetEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect startup=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //SnowEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //WetEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect startup=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect WheelWetSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect WheelSnowSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //WheelWetSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //WheelSnowSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect contrail = fx_dummy Is the above correct? (I'm a little mystified, that fx_dummy is in there)... The above, is from FSX Steam - but I've tried with Prepar3D also (version 2.5.12946.0) with same result... Running/re-installing Immersion Airbus doesn't resolve anything... Have tried installing FSUIPC (as per the manual) - with no luck, sadly... Also tried installing/updating .NET and Visual C++ redistributables ... Kinda at a loss ... this is a brand new installation of FSX... Please - any help will be greatly appreciated!!! Hi Anders, Can you uninstall A320 Family Immersion and send be back the content of the EFFECTS section? Thank you! Keven Menard Technical Director, //42.
July 15, 201510 yr Author Hi Anders, Can you uninstall A320 Family Immersion and send be back the content of the EFFECTS section? Thank you! Sure... just installed and re-installed... After re-installing PreciptFX the Effects section of Airbus A320 looks like this: [EFFECTS] // A320 & A321 WheelSnowSpray=fsfx_PFX_L_WheelSnowSpray //FSFX_PFX_Effect SnowEngineWash=fsfx_PFX_L_SnowEngineWash //FSFX_PFX_Effect WheelWetSpray=fsfx_PFX_L_WheelWetSpray //FSFX_PFX_Effect WetEngineWash=fsfx_PFX_L_WetEngineWash //FSFX_PFX_Effect SkidPavement=fsfx_PFX_L_skidmark //FSFX_PFX_Effect wake = fx_wake water = fx_spray dirt = fx_tchdrt concrete = fx_sparks touchdown=fx_tchdwn, 1 contrail = fx_dummy I assume this is correct? I then install the Airbus Family Immersion package - it then looks like this: [EFFECTS] // A320 & A321 vaportrail_l = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect vaportrail_r = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect l_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect r_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect vaportrail_l = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect vaportrail_r = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect l_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect r_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //WheelSnowSpray=fsfx_PFX_L_WheelSnowSpray //FSFX_PFX_Effect //SnowEngineWash=fsfx_PFX_L_SnowEngineWash //FSFX_PFX_Effect //WheelWetSpray=fsfx_PFX_L_WheelWetSpray //FSFX_PFX_Effect //WetEngineWash=fsfx_PFX_L_WetEngineWash //FSFX_PFX_Effect SkidPavement=fsfx_PFX_L_skidmark //FSFX_PFX_Effect wake = fx_wake water = fx_spray dirt = fx_tchdrt concrete = fx_sparks touchdown=fsfx_320_wheels_touchdown, 1 //FSFX_AFIM_Effect SnowEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect WetEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect startup=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //SnowEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //WetEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect startup=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect WheelWetSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect WheelSnowSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //WheelWetSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //WheelSnowSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect contrail = fx_dummy You'll notice alot of 'fx_dummy' entries... And the effects doesn't work ... any of them... Hope that helped... Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471

July 17, 201510 yr Author Okay, I think I got this working - somewhat, anyway... I was messing around with it, and I was able to see the effects in P3D (2.5.12946.0)... The effects are visible on the A320 when the following conditions were met: Night time (tried at 12.25 AM) Visibility low (don't remember the exact setting here). I am correct in assuming, that the volumetric strobe/nav and landing lights, are ONLY visible when it's night-time (or dusk/dawn) AND visibility is LOW? In other words, that the effects are not visible in the daytime, even when the visibility is set to LOW? Reason I'm asking is that I tried setting up in the middle of the day (around 11.30 AM), set the visibility to your weather theme (low visibility) - and NO volumetric light effects were present... no volumetric landing lights, and no volumetric strobe/nav lights ... is that the correct behavior? Thanks in advance! Btw - I still have the fx_dummy enties in my aircraft.cfg files - don't know why and if it's meaning anything... Maybe someone can answer that for me... it's just weird that it's putting all those fx_dummy's in there. Thanks in advance! Volumetric lighting does not work during daytime as you wouldn't see them in real life either. You can read about all the conditions required in the manual provided with the product. I will have a look at your cfg files later today to try to find the source of those duplicate entries. Thank you! Keven Menard Technical Director, //42.
July 17, 201510 yr Author Hi Keven, Thanks alot for the help! So, the fx_dummy intries are as they should be, I guess? They're still present in my aircraft.cfg (recent outprint of my EFFECTS section): Airbus Immersion aircraft.cfg [EFFECTS] vaportrail_l = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect vaportrail_r = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect l_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect r_wingtipvortice = fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect //WheelSnowSpray=fsfx_PFX_L_WheelSnowSpray //FSFX_PFX_Effect //SnowEngineWash=fsfx_PFX_L_SnowEngineWash //FSFX_PFX_Effect //WheelWetSpray=fsfx_PFX_L_WheelWetSpray //FSFX_PFX_Effect //WetEngineWash=fsfx_PFX_L_WetEngineWash //FSFX_PFX_Effect SkidPavement=fsfx_PFX_L_skidmark //FSFX_PFX_Effect wake = fx_wake water = fx_spray dirt = fx_tchdrt concrete = fx_sparks touchdown=fsfx_320_wheels_touchdown, 1 //FSFX_AFIM_Effect SnowEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect WetEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect startup=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect WheelWetSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect WheelSnowSpray=fx_dummy //FSFX_AFIM_Effect contrail = fx_dummy My PMDG 777 Immersion, too have the fx_dummy intries in the EFFECTS section: 777 Immersion aircraft.cfg [EFFECTS] wake=fx_dummy water=fx_dummy dirt=fx_tchdrt concrete=fx_sparks touchdown=fsfx_T7_touchDown, 1 //FSFX_777IM_Effect SnowEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_777IM_Effect WetEngineWash=fx_dummy //FSFX_777IM_Effect contrail=fx_dummy //FSFX_777IM_Effect startup=fsfx_T7_engColdStart //FSFX_777IM_Effect WheelWetSpray=fsfx_T7_WheelWetSpray //FSFX_777IM_Effect WheelSnowSpray=fsfx_T7_WheelSnowSpray //FSFX_777IM_Effect vaportrail_l=fx_dummy vaportrail_r=fx_dummy Anyway... Thanks alot for all your help! Thanks for clarifying about the daytime and night effects with regards to the volumetric lighting effects... Everything is working as it should - despite the fx_dummy entries. I would - however - like to know, if the fx_dummy's is supposed to be in there, or if it's some weird anomaly... Thanks again - and have a nice weekend! Edited July 17, 201510 yr by Keven Menard Remove some of our source code Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471
