August 1, 200520 yr When I run it, all I get is a "failed to initialize" error message .Anybody else had any success.Regards BarryWindowsXP
August 1, 200520 yr Hi,Same problem here.Jan"Beatus Ille Procul Negotiis" Jan "Beatus ille qui procul negotiis..."
August 1, 200520 yr I installed it per the instructions, and it opens just fine for me.However, to use it, one must 'import an aircraft set' and the instructions for doing this are lacking. There seems to be a help file that is missing. There is an SDK page, so I might be able to figure it out, but I doubt I'll have time for at least a couple of days.

They're in the package but don't get moved over with the installation. After I moved them in the folder I installed to I just imported one of them and "wallah!" it works.
August 1, 200520 yr For what it is worth, you can make your own aircraft set. However, thus far I have not been able to figure out all of the ins and outs for handling it.What I did was copy the FS2004 set, rename it, edit it, and then save it under a different name. The problem I have is that the first time I did this, it did not like one of my entries and gave me a bunch of scrambled code for an aircraft name. When I try to delete that name it tells me that the airplane does not exist. I then went back to try again, this time useing exactly the same entries as an existing default aircraft for my added aircraft entries, and the set imported fine. However, the badly coded bird was still included in my choices and I can find no way to get rid of it.What bothers me, is that I can completely (well I thought it was complete) uninstall the program, including deletion of everything I can find relative to files and folders, reinstall the program and I still have all of the aircraft included in originally installed sets (including the badly coded one). Obviously when the sets are imported they are put in some other location from the installation folder(possibly registry?)Has anyone figured out where the sets are located after they are imported so that they might be edited, or deleted later so one might start over with a clean slate? This looks like a great little program when we can figure out completely how it works. Thanks Bracken. Thanks:RTHEDIT: Overlooked the obvious. The aircraft that are imported by sets are located in whatever choice one made in the setup for aircraft location. In my case, I thought it was asking me where the FS9>Aircraft directory was located, and I chose that spot. All of the set aircraft were listed after my aircraft folders as single files.
August 1, 200520 yr Ahhh......well,I did import all the FS9 aircraft from the dataset that came with the program. Funny thing, though: my dataset wasn't moved anywhere, it was still in the temp folder that I unzipped to.Oh, well... works now. Just have to make up my own dataset for my addons!Regards,
August 1, 200520 yr Author Nope -- can't get this programme to run at all. I have uninstalled and re-installed a couple of times. I have moved the datasets to the same folder as the programme is in -- but all I get when I try to run the programmeis a "failed to initialize" error message.Barry
August 2, 200520 yr Barry:If you have already done everything I mention and/or I am not interpreting what you have said correctly, just ignore me. I realize I may have over simplified things so cut me some slack. No offence meant. If you are simply moveing the datasets that may be the problem. I believe you need to import them. The following was my procedure.Preface: The first thing I did was make an Excel spreadsheet with my aircraft listings including Range, Fuel Capacity, and MPG (Range divided by Fuel capacity). I have not completed it, nor included all of my aircraft in FuelCalc yet, but do have all my Boeing and Airbus aircraft entered and working in the program (of which there are many).1. After installation, activate FuelC.exe2. You should have another window appear asking for your name and aircraft location. I first thought this was in reference to the FS9>Aircraft folder which you can select, but you can choose/create your own location. I chose to make a new folder called "Imported Aircraft Sets and Installed aircraft" and located it in the folder which fuelcalc installed.3. Close the program.4. Again activate FuelC.exe5. Select File6. Select Import Aircraft Set6. Select "FS2004 Aircraft Set" or whatever set is applicable (see below)All default aircraft should be there. Now, I do not use default aircraft, so this is what I did in order to have my choice of aircraft.1. Copy "FS2004 Aircraft set.doc" to your desktop.2. Edit the extention from "dat" to "doc" or whatever text you use (Mine "doc" is for Word).3. Rename the file. (I chose "Rogers Aircraft Set.doc")3. Add your own aircraft in the same format as the defaults4. If you prefer, delete the default aircraft5. Edit the extention back from "doc" to "dat"6. Move the file back into the folder from which you extracted the "FS2004 Aircraft set.dat" file7. Then import this file rather than the original FS2004 Data Set, or you can include both. You can make and/or choose as many sets as you want to. As long as there are no duplicate names, your additional sets are simply added to the folder. This allows you to easily delete, edit, and arrange your included aircraft in any way you want to in text format. I prefer to keep mine in alphabetical order. Simply make whatever changes you desire, and reimport the file, or if you prefer, I assume (have not tried it yet) you can go to whereever you chose to import the files and rearrange them there by line items. One more note: Be careful of your entries that they are in the correct format. I by mistake entered the letter "o" rather than the number "0" in one place. Each time I chose that particular aircraft for fuel calculation, I got an error message. AFTER making this selection I also then got the same error message every time I chose any aircraft for fuel calculation (They all worked before I selected the errored aircraft). It locked up the program relative to working correctly. Edited her to the correct "0" entry and everything worked flawlessly.Hope this is of some help. I kind of like the program.RTH
