VDM 23L approach at EGCC

Featured Replies

Ok just about got sorted flying an ils approach into Manchester

I have now started using PRO ATC which I find great, but it is giving me VDM 23L  as part of my landing which I can not understand.

Can somebody please tell me what  a VDM approach is? I have searched google etc but did not find any tuts etc

Any explination would be gratefully recieved.

VOR DME

I don't think it's a standard naming convention, though there really isn't a set convention for FMS databases.

Many thanks for that, going in the right direction now!

Welcome.

And it's 24L/R now, but that only matters if you're using a current airport file, charts, and nav data.

It used to be 24L/R kyle but it's been 23L/R for a while now.

By the way, landing on 23L at EGCC would be extremely unusual in real life, just so you know. But no harm in practising those non-precision approaches!

Ah - got confused because the Mag Drift here always moves runway numbers "up." ROA, as an example, went from 15/33 to 16/34 a few years ago.
