Carenado PA31 P3Dv2 re-install

Featured Replies

I purchased the Carenado PA31 in late July and installed it in P3Dv2.4. Everything worked OK and I was pleased with the aircraft. I flew it several times over the next few weeks. I had delayed upgrading from 2.4 to P3Dv2.5 but decided to do so. Users on this site had recommended a clean install, so that's the way I decided to go. I uninstalled P3D2.4 and all of my add-ons. Then I installed v2.5, checked things out for awhile with everything default, then  decided to re-install my scenery and a/c add-ons. I hadpreviously saved the installation exe file for the PA31  along with my serial number, so I attempted to install it. I immediately got an error msg from Carenado that the Serial was invalid. I looked at my Carenado account page and saw that there were 0 downloads remaining (although I had only downloaded one time??). I emailed Carenado and told them my problem, requesting they refill my downloads, thinking this would probably result in a new serial number also. But the serial number remained the same; so I thought they must have reset it. I downloaded the new file and attempted to install it, but with the same result. I have several more Carenado a/c (FSX models though), and I tried to reinstall them with their old serial numbers, and everything worked fine. I re-emailed Carenado, and they said the serial was good, I must have made a mistake entering it. So I copied it again from their site, made sure there were no spaces before or after, and tried it again: same result. I re emailed Carenado, and a couple of days later they sent me an email with the same serial number attached, saying their records showed this was the serial number assigned to me. I tried it again. Same result. I sent them another email suggesting that since their own server was rejecting the serial number there must be a problem, and that they should send me a new one. Two days passed: no answer. I sent another email with my order number and date of purchases to make sure they understood I was a legitimate customer. That was 2 or 3 days ago, and no answer. It looks as if they intend to ignore me.

So to the P3D2 users here I would like to ask if anyone has had a similar problem with re-installing the PA31 or other products to P3Dv2? Is it possible I am doing something wrong? Or is this just Carenado's poor customer service?

regards

Mike

Hi Mike

I've had no issues with installing Carenado products (latest EMB505 Phenom 300) into P3DV2.5. I've not got the PA31 so I can't comment on that though.

No issues with installing the PA31 in P3D.  Not sure I understand why you need to re-download?  Your serial number should work with your saved original download -- I assume you unzipped the PI1600X.zip before attempt to run the PI1600Xv1.1.exe?

Cheers, Rob.
