Aviation videos on Facebook - are they real?
My Facebook feed has numerous videos of airliners taking off from extremely short runways (including aircraft carriers!) and difficult landings. Since most of these seem to be filmed from a chase plane following close behind or aside the aircraft, it seems unlikely in real life. I am wondering if they are from a very realistic flightsim like MSFS2020 or MSFS2024? Any thoughts on this?

64g Ram really necessary?
Another point - it is very inexpensive to go from 32 to 64 GB - about £108. I will be buying a new pc in the next few days and intend to get 64GB>

Medium to Low End PC, How does MSFS 2024 Perform?
How about broadband speed? I get around 100-130 mb/s. Will this hack it?

UK based - best pre-built PC company?
AviatorMan replied to martin-w's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcChillBlast gets my vote also. Have bought two custom build systems from them and a laptop. Planning to purchase a 3rd new system from them in a month or so just for MSFS2024. Previously I bought from Novatech, also UK based, for FS2004 FSX and P3D. No real complaints for them either, but I have more positive experience with ChillBlast. If you do not want to start completely from scratch, they have four "flightsim-based" options, each one based upon a processor and a graphics board. E.g., an Intel I7 and NVIDIA 407 si, which you can build up to your own specs - e,g, faster processor, upgraded graphics board, more RAM, increased SSD storage etc. My only concern is they do not have a flight sim system based upon AMD processors! Just Intel.

MSFS2004 computer build critique
AviatorMan replied to JMEppright's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcYou are going for the Intel i9 14900 in spite of all the problems reported with this processor?? I am a long time Intel user and would like to do the same, but worried that Intel have not fully addressed the problems yet. They have released numerous bios updates to solve the underlying issue and it persists. I will not purchase my new system until after MSFS2024 is released in November and will continue to follow developments with the Intel problem, but at the moment I am reluctantly considering moving to AMD Ryzen.

Is Premium Deluxe for 2024 worth it if I own it for 2020?
Buy the Premium Deluxe version. The additional $60 is peanuts compared to all of the money we will spend on addons over the life of the simulator.

Next pc build opinion
AviatorMan replied to Q400lover's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI am planning a new system prior to MSFS2024 launch, and wish to replace my current Intel i9 based system for the latest i9. I am not comfortable to change to AMD Ryzen processors after all these years of Intel based systems. However, due to the ongoing issues with Intel high end processors I plan to wait until things are sorted before I buy.

2024 underlying technology?
I have not been following the discussion closely for last several months. It seems as if MSFS2024 differs from MSFS2020 primarily in world/scenery representation. What are the fundamental differences between the technologies/methods used for scenery generation in the two sims?

Inibuilds aircraft
Have been away from MSFS2020 for several months now. I have seen some positive comments about Inibuilds aircraft and looked on their website. They have a very large number of planes available. Are they all good? Comparable to A2A and Black Square? I am mostly interested in GA piston aircraft btw.

Starliner Launch.
It boggles the mind! I had assumed that surely this par of Boeing would not have the same sort of quality control issues that they have with their aircraft. They just don't seem to be able to get anything right.

Map: Every bespoke airport, POI, & photogrammetry city.
A quick spot check shows that it is missing a lot of airports. Must not be up to date.

A2A Comanche has been released!
Saitek (i.e. Logitek) yoke w/ 3 lever quadrant programmed to Throttle 1 &2 and Prop 1 Saitek 3 lverThrottle quadrant programmed to Prop 2 and Mixture 1 & 2 Have programmed these controllers using the Controls Section in MSFS 2020.

A2A Comanche has been released!
Have tried several times and failed to fix the problem.Have checked on the A2A forum as well and no mention of the problem there. I am surprised that very few other users seem to have had this problem. This issue is not present in my other aircraft. Guess I will have to go back to flying the Black Square Bonanza until A2A sends out an update that fixes the problem. Disappointed...

A2A Comanche has been released!
Thanks. My throttle problem is related to my controller setup evidently, because when I use the mouse and advance/retract the actual throttle in the a/c it works as it should. I will take your suggestion concerning the bindings.

A2A Comanche has been released!
Am I doing something wrong. When I advance the throttle the engine rpm/map increases as it should, when I pull the throttle back it seems to go to idle in about the middle of the lever position, and when I pull it back further the engine increases again. As if it were going into reverse/ Help! I haven't changed by control parameters so I am not sure what to do.

A2A Comanche has been released!
Again, you may want to check out the A2A tread quoted in Alvega's post about 20 minutes before your post. I think it answers your question.

Another Excellent Freeware Airport - LFAT
Is this the same LFAT that's been on Flightsim.to for several months now? Or is this a new product?

Carenado PA31 Serial Numer Problem - really unusual
Yes, have solved it. The problem was my windows firewall setting. I had windows 7 then and have updated to 10 and don't remember the exact details of what I did, but basically you need to go into your windows firewall settings and make sure that your firewall is not blocking the Carenado installer. As I recall I had to set a temporary exception for the Carenado aircraft I was trying to install. Then the installer recognized the serial number and it installed OK. Once it is installed you can go back into windows firewall and set it the way you want. What I don't know is why I never had this problem with a Carenado install before. I suppose Carenado has increased their install protection to try to avoid piracy. However, for me It was such a hassle I have avoided buying any more Carenado aircraft since then. Good luck!

Clean install really necessary ?
I also did an upgrade from win 7 to win 10, not a clean install. So far no problems at all. P3Dv3, ActiveSky, ORBX FTX England, and several addon aeroplanes, and everything working flawlessly.

Well...the year deadline is approaching...and so is 2020....
Hi Have you decided to upgrade or not? Thinking of doing the same but still unsure.

Update from V3.0 to latest must do all interim versions?
OK Thanks.

Update from V3.0 to latest must do all interim versions?
I have been running P3DV3 since it came out in March without issues, but have now decided to install the latest version which I believe is V3.3 I Intend to install only the client as set out in the pinned topic. I haven't installed V3.1 or V3.2. Does V3.3 include everything, or do I need to install the interim versions?

The A2A Texan is out!
Agree with you completely. A2A aircraft go beyond RealAir's in flight realism. One of the areas where A2A excel over all other developers, including RealAir, is the way the airframe vibrations are simulated. Flying the A2A Cherokee and Comanche, when you run up the engines the instrument panel, gauges, even the cowling as you look out the front: they vibrate with a high frequency that seems very accurate to reality. The RealAir Duke vibrates, but the frequency seems to slow, and sort of lumbering. I think RealAir should work on that. Their Duke is great, but the vibrations need to be tweaked a bit in my opinion. A2A have got it exactly right, and it really adds to the immersion effect.

So I took the plunge and started to repaint the PA-31. Part 2
Downloaded the blue and red one last week. These paint jobs are much better than the Carenado ones, and I am enjoying flying this plane so much more with these beautiful paint jobs. Thanks Steffan
