Aviation videos on Facebook - are they real?

Featured Replies

My Facebook feed has numerous videos of airliners taking off from extremely short runways (including aircraft carriers!) and difficult landings. Since most of these seem to be filmed from a chase plane following close behind or aside the aircraft, it seems unlikely in real life. I  am wondering if they are from a very realistic flightsim like MSFS2020 or MSFS2024? Any thoughts on this?

My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB  DDR4  RAMNoctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel     Sims: MSFS2020      Preferred Aircraft  Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049

There are numerous fakes on FB. Some of the more comical ones are the pilot going crazy with the yoke right before landing. Some guy with a high powered pc provides some that you have to look closely to know they are a flight simulator. Some are actual departures and landings. These are most commonly from a cockpit view. Others are from nearby locations. Some make me envious that my machine is so out of date.😁

IMHO, there seems to be a lot more AI/fake posts on Facebook since earlier this year...perhaps relating to the reduction/elimination of fact checkers on that site. I've just learned to take FB for what it is...

There's definitely a massive spike in AI nonsense on Facebook in the past few months.  Not that Facebook was ever a place to go for facts, but lately there's so much stuff like fake videos and entire articles.

There's a theory called "dead internet theory" that suggests that the majority of stuff we see is just AI and not actual humans.  I think we're a long way from that, but I think places like Facebook are getting much worse.
