Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

You are going for the Intel i9 14900 in spite of all the problems reported with this processor??

I am a long time Intel user and would like to do the same, but worried that Intel have not fully addressed the problems yet. They have released numerous bios updates to solve the underlying issue and it persists. I will not purchase my new system until after MSFS2024 is released in November and will continue to follow developments with the Intel problem, but at the moment I am reluctantly considering moving to AMD Ryzen.

My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB  DDR4  RAMNoctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel     Sims: MSFS2020      Preferred Aircraft  Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049

You do not need an i9 processor for a game, it is an enterprise level CPU made for commercial products like Autodesk, programming, photoshop etc. etc. You'll see negligble gains compared to a 14700k (with relation to it's price), just slight improvements with 0.1% lows and maybe 1% lows.

Save money and pick a 7800X3D (You don't need a 7900X3D or 7950X3D). Or if you're patient can wait for the 9000 series X3D chips. Intel has yet to release a CPU that competes with X3D chips at a comparable TDP. Either way you'll see much better 1% and average frametimes than you would with the 14900k

SAMSUNG 990 EVO SSD 2TB, PCIe Gen 4x4 | Gen 5x2 M.2 2280, Speeds Up-to 5,000MB/s, Upgrade Storage for PC/Laptops, HMB Technology and Intelligent Turbowrite (MZ-V9E2T0B/AM)

Unnecessary SSD for gaming needs. Something like a Crucial P3 is more than enough. MSFS isn't going to saturate SSD speeds anytime soon, not even games that use the DirectStorage do.

240mm CPU Liquid Cooler,Water Cooler with Temperature Display Screen,240mm Radiator ARGB & PWM Case Fans,LGA115X/1200/1700/1366/2011 / 2066, AM5 / AM4 ,Black 2 Fan Slots (120 mm)

Air coolers have come a long way in recent years and for this price point something like a Thermalright Peerless Assassin or Deepcool AK620 which trade blows with some liquid coolers. Though if you really want liquid, then a Artic Liquid Freezer II is a good shout.

Fractal Design Define R5 Black Silent ATX Midtower Computer Case

This is a pretty old case by today's standard (still has slots for CD Drives). I'd suggest something like a Antec Flux, Fractal North, Fractal Torrent, Montech X3 Mesh. Obviously some of these are more expensive than what you chose but with the savings from changing out your CPU and SSD you should be good.

Based on you choosing a 4070ti, I'm going to guess you're not gaming at 4k in which case I personally don't think 32GB is necessary. Another avsim member did a stress test at 4k running that absolute overtop amount of programs whilst simming and just barely broke 32GB of RAM.

I'm going to hazard a guess that you wouldn't be doing all of this whilst simming. In which case 64GB really isn't necessary.

Hopefully this helps you out 🙂

Save money and pick a Ryzen 7800x3d with a x670e motherboard (AS Rock x670e Taichi is fantastic) and spend more on the GPU.

Sorry I just looked and the Price on the 7800x3d is up about $200-300 atm.

I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988.

Windows 11 Pro loaded on a 4TB Gen5 Crucial T700 SSD, 4TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD, Ryzen 9 7950x3d, AS Rock X670e Taichi Motherboard, Gigabyte Gaming RTX 4090 OC 24GB, 64GB (2x32GB) Viper Venom  DDR5-6000MT/s, MSI 32" MAG 321UPX QD-OLED 260hz 4K Gaming Monitor.

I've been building my own PC's for 25 years, and I've used both Intel and AMD CPU's. I have no loyalty to one brand.  I've been using the 7950x3d for a year without any complaints. I get great performance in MSFS2020, XP12 and P3Dv5.

Did you actually read the last portion of my comment demonstrating why it would be pointless to do so?

you being a PC builder yourself would know that the published spec sheet is wholly incoherent in all regards and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Unnecessary cost, there’s nothing here that would necessitate paying for the extra io capability. B650e would suit OPs more than enough for years to come

I've owned a variety of SSDs over the years, and only the Samsungs keep working. The extra dollars are well worth the extra reliability IMO.

Fair enough, I've had my fair share Sabrents, Kingstons and Crucials that have lasted over the years without issue. However it really depends on the model in question. Either way, OP can refer to borecraft on some guidance .SSD_Buying_Guide.svg
