FSX Default GPS Navigation Data

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to have up-to-date SIDS/STARS in the fsx gps? I have been using V-Route and simroutes to generate real world routes, but even with the most up to date airac cycle, some of the SIDS/STARS are missing. For Example: KPHX- CHILY4 DEP is available in V-Route, but not the similar alternative, JUDTH3.

Hi Spencer, remember that most planners only use an AIRAC nav database from Navigragraph, NavDataPro etc. But the default GPS uses navdata only found in the FSX scenery, and knows nothing of the latest navaids and routing unless updated to match. Many of the fixes and navs referred to in SID/STARs are in the stock sim, but although there's no specific SID/STAR routing, the GPS can load approaches. Generally use a planner that refers to an AIRAC together with an aircraft with AIRAC fed navigation and SID/STAR. Use a planner that refers to the scenery navdata when using the default GPS, or make sure the scenery is updated to match AIRAC navdata as Jay suggests. With default GPS and stock sim scenery, and a plan made from a planner referring to a recent AIRAC, there's going to differences such as missing navs and fixes.
