August 15, 200520 yr Today once again my sim crashed with a TCAS2v7.dllh error. There was an aircraft at the holding point, another which just landedon the same runway and myself approx 2nm out.The question is, do I need this gauge or can I juat get rid of it.Always seems to crash my sim when other traffic is around. Thanks for any input. August 16, 200520 yr The properties show the .dll author is Lee Hetherington. If you look in the gauge lib by his name you will find one by him for TCAS or combo TCAS/VS. I would suspect that gauge uses that module. As I recall I had difficulties occasionally until I removed it as well putting the module in a safe holding location. I was using W98 at the time.
August 16, 200520 yr Author Thanks Ronzie - I'm using FS9 but presently aside from the default aircraft I only have installed the PMDGs, Level-D and Flight 1 ATR.Was wondering if any of the above depended on this gauge at all,as otherwise I will delete it. Just a pain in the behind everytime I amonline and on finals at a busy airport after a 4 hour flight. Will remove it and see what happens. August 16, 200520 yr This is spooky - I recently had the exact same CTD error while landing in a PMDG 738. It happens very occasionally and I've never found the cause.Could it be anything to do with FSUIPC, add on scenery, or any other add on utility?Anybody offer an other assistance?Del.
August 16, 200520 yr See this, I had the same problem and this fixed it.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe I have fixed a problem that was causing some crashes to desktop / abnormal termination of FS. It had to do with the TCAS code, but I do not think it would occur without an RA in progress, and only in rare situations at that. If you have a TCAS2v7assert.log file in FS's main folder, then this has occured to you at some point.I would urge anyone with CTD problems to try the following and report back:Delete the TCAS2v7assert.log file in your FS9 folder. Better yet, email it to me at [email protected] http://www.csail.mit.edu/~ilh/fs/tcas/TCAS2v7-1.1.6.zip into your FS9 folder.Try similar encounters and see if there are no crashes. I believe I had some debugging code still in there for some very rare cases that would cause FS9 to terminate abnormally. It should now do something sane in the same situations.Again, please report back. If this is successful, it will be incorporated in any future updates.__________________Lee Hetherington PP-ASEL (KBED)
August 16, 200520 yr Author Yeap I've seen Lee's posting before, unfortunately I don't have an"assert.log" file at all, yet the problem does occur usually if you areon approach to an airport and other traffic around at less than 5nm.For example just prior to my latest crash I was flying into EGLL onVATSIM on approach and at one point just before turning for theLOC another aircraft crossed behing me at just above 500ft. The TCAS warning on the PMDG was of course giving a warning.I continued the turn for the approach and locked to the ILS at approx2nm from touchdown. At this point there were only 2 aircraft closeto mine. One holding short of the rwy I was landing on and anotheralso vacating same runway. Then black screen and TCAS gauge error.I'm going to delete this gauge and see if I can live without it.Thanks Joaquin Blanco Intel Core i9-9900K at 5Ghz, Corsair Hydro H100i RGB PLATINUM CPU cooler, Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E,Motherboard, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super 8GB GDDR6, G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Memory, 500GB Samsung 970 EVO PLUS M.2 PCIe,2TB Samsung 860 QVO Solid State Drive, 2TB, 2 x Samsung 860 Evo 2TB, 1 x 1TB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair RM650x 80 PLUS Gold 650W PSU.
