SID TRANSITIONS

Featured Replies

Was looking to do a flight out of LSZH and they have SID TRANSITIONS, but not showing up in the FMS and PFPX TRANSITION BOX is greyed out for TRANSITIONS. So how does this work then will i need to manually create the SID TRANSITION in PFPX to the same waypoints on my SID TRANSITION chart?

Not a single SID in the chart book I have has a transition. What SID are you referring to, and what are you assuming is a transition thereon?

Take a look at LSZH they have a few TRANSITIONS From a SID like VEBIT

There are some transition routes as a supplement to the SIDs, but they are not SID transitions. Every VEBIT SID ends at VEBIT. The only changes are driven by runway choice. For this reason, no transitions are offered by the CDU or PFPX.

Transition routes would be hand entered, or imported as part of the core route.

Vernon,

I can only assume you are looking at the transit route charts for Zurich*.  As I understand it they are not SID transitions in the conventional sense, i.e. they are variants of a particular SID, but are general purpose standard route segments (i.e. if you don't file a route using one of them, you'll most likely get a modified clearance using one) and you can see this in the top right hand corner where it says "Transit Route" rather than "SID", similar to the NATS Standard Route Document in the UK (particularly those routes that specify only to the limits of UK airspace), or Preferred Routes in the US.

You are correct that they don't appear to be in the AIRAC data, at least not via NavDataPro, so you will need to enter them mannually in PFPX after the end of the initial SID, e.g. DEGES 1E then leaving the standard routing at LOKTA would become:

DEGE1E DEGES Z5 LOKTA

The only slightly odd point is that the charts for a couple (GERSA1C for example) imply that there are transitions (RESIA and GERSA in the example), but if you look on the relevant transit route chart, GERSA is a starting point for this and includes the same route as the SID itself does, but I'm sure it made sense to someone somewhere....

HTH,

Jamie

Edit: See already answered, that'll teach me to pick up the kids whilst writing a post :)

Cheers kyle and jamie. I will select a Transition after my SID and build it in PFPX!
