October 10, 201510 yr When you fly for a charter company do you get assignments for that week or how does that work? Do you know the people's names, weights, etc or do they only tell you to pick up x many people from airport abc and fly them to xyz? Thanks. Ciao!
October 11, 201510 yr Hi, Brian, Charter flights can be "pop-up" flights or can be scheduled days, weeks, or even months in advance. On first contact by Flight Dispatch personnel, the flight crew will be given the preliminary information about the flight. This will be followed up on arrival to the airport with a Flight Trip Report. If the trip is out of the Country, we will have an International Flight Package detailing the trip requirements, weather, routing, customs, fixed base operation for the airport, and handlers, etc., as needed. The Flight Trip Report provides trip leg information, the lead passenger's name, additional passenger names, passenger weights, contact information, catering and transportation arrangements, and length of stay for the destination, or destinations. The only real unknown is the amount of baggage the passengers will bring. Our final Weight and Balance will be performed after we know how much luggage weight there will be. Our Flight Dispatch is very good at making sure the person scheduling the flight knows that there is a weight and size limitation for baggage. So, we normally won't have a problem with luggage size or weight. This is the general information for a typical flight. Some trips require a lot more information, but those are not the norm. Hope this helps.
