Traffic Density / ATC help please

Featured Replies

Hello,I use Ultimate Traffic as my AI engine. Today, on a flight from KSFO to KLAX (LDD 767) I was on final, at 3 mi - on G/S cleared to land R/w 6L when I was hit (mid air collison) by an AI Beech 1900!!!! Since I was using the FS9 ATC and was cleared to land, I account for this by the usual FS9 ATC limitations. Is there anything I can do to reduce the probability that this will happen? I also use Radar Contact 3.1 but only when I fly the ATC all of the way - I don't think you can use RC3.1 like the FS9.1 ATC and file during the flight. Thanks in advance,Ron SagelNear KCHS

I've tried it and it works great. No impact on sim performance and it does a creditable job of spacing arrivals so you don't get run down on final. With heavy AI traffic you'll still end up waiting in line for twenty+ minutes for take off however. Can't change that. :)

There are two settings (AI Smooth) you can change that might be of interest:The first is Respond To User Aircraft which should help keep AI from overrunning you on final. I do not use it because if you are spotting it can keep any AI from landing.Instead I use the second setting of seperating AI 90 seconds. This lets the takeoff queue that can build up quickly get off the ground at a decent pace and on arrival leaves me some room to squirm in.I'm using RC 3.1. A beta tester of version 4 to come some day is using AI Smooth with that version as well. The new RC moves aircraft closer to you out of the way and AI Smooth provides seperation outside of RC's new AI control.I'm running UT2 plus three seperate cargo plans at 80%.>I've tried it and it works great. I wish there was an updated version that fixed the aircraft disappearing and flying upsidedown/crashing into the ground, etc.

AI Smooth is now bundled with Just Flight's Traffic 2005. If there is an update it may only be available as a patch for their paywhere. The support for AI Smooth alone has been taken down.Unless AI Smooth is capable of reading the AI aircraft type, perhaps its holding pattern is too tight or speed too slow for some AI aircraft. I do not see any settings for this and since AI aircraft does have flight dynamics they are subject to the same performance constraints as flyable aircraft.
