August 23, 200520 yr Hello, I'm currently considering getting Justflights Traffic 2005, I just have a few questions that I hope any who own the program could answer...Could anyone who has both this and Ultimate Traffic comment on how the two relate, specifically the aircraft models and ease of use? Do you get better framerates with this or UT?Does anyone know specifically what Canadian based airlines there are? Would I see helicopter and GA traffic in Canada? Even at smaller airports?Thank you to anyone who can help me out.
August 23, 200520 yr Hi,I haven't used UT so can't compare in that respect but have just upgraded from Traffic 2004Traffic 2005 seems like quite a leap from t2004. Alot more traffic even at lower percentages (imo) including lots more GA traffic. Framrate wise it seems pretty good. The AI models aren't super detailed but are close enough (I'd sooner have that than over detailed models and poor frame rates. It also makes use of the default GA aircraft quite alot. Not sure about Canadian Airlines, although there is definately commerical aviation flying around Canada (I'm currently doing a circuit of Canada). Some of the smaller canadian airfields do have GA traffic including helicopters and can be quite busy with various aircraft doing circuits (something t2005 likes doing).Overall it certainly makes flightsim busier than t2004 did. I think the AI smooth app needs a bit of work as it can sometimes crash. Also, if you start it before flight sim as I do with asv fsuipc reports that it doesn't have a valid code, but it works fine if you start it once flight sim is running it is fine.Tower view and the ground car views are quite good fun too.Marc.
August 23, 200520 yr David the models in T2005, look very poor compared to other AI models http://www.justflight.com/en/(guefwe45ypc1...kjh)/index.aspxI was thinking of getting it just for the helicopter AI, but after seeing the shots, decided against it.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
August 23, 200520 yr the helicopter models are not especially good. The rotors disappear alot of the time.also not convinced by the way they fly. They appear to work pretty much like extremely stol planes.
August 23, 200520 yr Appearance isn't a big issue, as long as they aren't terrible. Id rather lose some quality in appearance for framerates.I realize the best effect would be to set things up myself with AIA / FSPainter / CDAI and MRAI etc. - but I find that way too time consuming and with beta testing etc. I don't have the time for it.Minimum work required to setup is a high priority, something I enjoyed with Ultimate traffic, however I prefer to have more GA traffic then just the default. I also have My Traffic 2004 but wasn't overly impressed with it.
August 23, 200520 yr David, have you tried the GA Traffic generator? It is easy to set up traffic. The time consuming part is d/ling and installing the aicraft and even that is nothing compaed to swapping out AIA or FSP aircraft, the rest is a couple of clicks.I'm really surpriseed the UTGA group hasn't d/led all the AI specific GA and made a package with the traffic BGL and the aircraft, that would be a huge hit.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
August 23, 200520 yr I am thinking about getting Traffic 2005 as well. Does it come with a traffic editor so that you can add any aircraft to any airport and create a route etc.I wish Justflight had put a bit more info on their site, like a downloadable manual, to give us an idea what you get.Anthony UK
August 23, 200520 yr I was a beta tester for GA - AI actually :> . Indeed it does a good quick job but you still have to add the models. Ultimate GA does have a couple of nice packages I will be installing though.
August 24, 200520 yr I picked up Traffic 2005 yeseterday, so I have all 3 major traffic addons. My Traffic does have quite a bit of traffic, but it is "simulated" routes, so if Air Bonanza serves Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville - and flies Dash 8's and ATR's, then Dash 8 and ATR routes will be made somewhat randomly between them. It also has General Aviation and Military traffic.Ultimate Traffic uses real world schedules so you will see the proper planes on the proper routes, they are of course only accurate to when the flightplans were made - you can buy updated flightplans that autoinstall for a fairly low price. (Keep in mind that with 100's of airlines there is a pile of work involved in doing it so it is somewhat fair to charge for the new ones. If 100% accuracy isn't important you can just go with the plans that come with it).Traffic 2005 seems to be a mix of both. It has a lot of airlines - definately the most Canadian airlines and repaints out of the three, though it needs a couple of tweaks such as adding the Air Canada Jazz Dash 8's (in the works).Out of the three I find Traffic 2005 has the most variety, and the most tools to use (such as repainting tools, scheduling etc.), and of course it is the newest so it has an advantage there. It all comes down to your preferences.I'd say for variety - go with Traffic 2005 - for realism go with Ultimate Traffic. The best setup of course is to use the various AI aircraft like AI Aardvark and custom flightplans for a custom setup - but that can be rather time consuming.

August 24, 200520 yr >Which of these has the lowest impact in FPS and performence?>I find that Traffice 2005 is the best for me, far better fps than with Ultimate Traffic.AnthonyUK
August 24, 200520 yr It's a bit hard to say - My Traffic was the worst for framerates / performance for me. So far Traffic 2005 isn't too bad nor was UT, it really does depend on your system though.
