October 26, 201510 yr I am just about to start reinstalling all of my ORBX products on a new FSX:SE setup on my new computer. I have read some of the other messages pretaining to a reinstall of Orbx products and have determined that I will follow the same suggested order: Global; Regions; Region SP's, airports, airport SP's, latest libraries. But a couple of things I still wonder about (it is becoming clear I really do not understand how FTX Central and Orbx libraries really work): 1) How will the whole FTX Central thing work given that there is FTX Central 1 and FTX Central 2? I will get both depending on which products I install and in what order, correct? Is there a way to get FTX Central 2 on the machine right away so it can download the newest Orbxlibs right away? Can I do that as soon as I have installed Global? 2) I plan to do this over a number of install sessions and not all at once. I plan to install Global and then fly for a bit, then later install a few regions and fly, etc. until I am done. Once I have installed the newest ORBXlibs and then I install older products what happens? Do I need to reinstall the latest libs again? Do I need to install older products to newer products in order? Any advise greatly appreciated.
October 27, 201510 yr The library installs the latest version of FTX Central, so fahgeddabahtid. Just run it last. But as you are reinstalling it would be useful to update to the latest installers - which include FTX Central 2 anyway. ALWAYS run the library files last, after any install. You can't know whether any of the products use earlier versions of textures or files, so always last and then run FTX Central to make sure they're implemented correctly. So the methodology goes: Install Global run Central, which runs automatically anyway. Install Libraries Re-run FTX Central, re-select the Global and Apply Go fly ! As you add the Regional products you will then get the option to choose from the FTX Central utility. Use that same process and always install the libraries, then run FTX Central to make our selection and you're golden. It's a very good idea to install one at a time, checking each installation in the sim. Finally FTX Central now includes an automated library checker that will prompt you for all future version AND library updates, and saves time by only d/l the files that actually change. Hope this helps
October 27, 201510 yr To add to what Louis stated, installing FTX Global first will actually now set you up for trouble free installations. When I reinstalled it last weekend (due to the P3D v3 updated installers), I found that FTX Central v2 was automatically installed, so from that point forward, FTXCv2 will run when called, without any annoying errors to get through. I would still exercise caution with regards to the automatic checker in FTXCv2 for libraries, until ORBX officially announces that all anomalies have been sorted out. I had an issue not long ago with relying on FTXCv2 downloading and installing the latest libraries and it didn't work correctly. As a safeguard, take a quick look at the support section at FTX, where the latest libraries are listed with reliable links to download. -Jim Engage, research, inform and make your posts count! -Jim Morvay Origin EON-17SLX - Under the hood: Intel Core i7 7700K at 4.2GHz (Base) 4.6GHz (overclock), nVidia GeForce GTX-1080 Pascal w/8gb vram, 32gb (2x16) Crucial 2400mhz RAM, 3840 x 2160 17.3" IPS w/G-SYNC, Samsung 950 EVO 256GB PCIe m.2 SSD (Primary), Samsung 850 EVO 500gb M.2 (Sim Drive), MS Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit
