FS9 CTD after installation of freeware TNCM

Featured Replies

Recently installed Delbond Christian scenery of St-maarten.Now FS will crash to desktop every time a flight is set up for that area.Uninstalled the scenery but it still crashes.Does not happen anywhere else. The read me does mention deleting previouse versions and any other scenery relating to TNCM but I have none installed .At a lost as to what to do to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the club!I recently had a situation where I could swear by god's sake that I undid everything and restored the original, but there were still CTDs at certain locations in New Zealand.I did a fresh FS9.1 install on another computer, then compressed the scenery folder with 7zip and burned it onto DVD.Then, I replaced my folder with the original one, and whoops! The CTD disappeared. Now I get CTDs sometimes because some add-ons install HL*.bgl and HP*.bgl files and textures to the default FS9 folders, which, when missing, also cause CTDs. In these cases, I simply re-install them, and so far, everything works now.Freeware is a little easier to handle. What causes me enormous troubles and is not really managably by me is installing LWM and VTP scenery (e.g. roads and waters) where some original files need to be deleted first (e.g. scenery from FSFreeware). Because you never know whether a file is still original and default or already replaced by some add-on, deleting them could easily lead to CTDs.I only wish a new FS version gives a hint why it crashed by e.g. telling which file is missing.Andreas

<<<<>>>>There is no need to delete anything. Merely "Rename" the suggested particular file(s)....this way they will still reside in the appropriate folder and be available if and when you choose to re-use them.

For simplicity reasons, I coose to delete them. Never in my life I'm gonna trace back which of the hundreds of renamed files belong to where and what add-on!That's what I call "unmanageable" (definitely an area where a tool would be handy). Did you read through the readme's etc. of some of FSFreeware's waters and see how many files some FSFreeware waters need to be renamed?! Their names all look very similar and I get headaches when looking at them long enough (it took me a whole day to write batch files for all their waters/roads which just delete the files).Andreas
