August 28, 200520 yr Hello all!I was wondering if there's a program that will allow me to select how I start Fs 2004. Meaning, let's say I want to be flying the 777 near Princess Julianna to practice landings. I wisho to start flight sim with a double click of an icon that will set me up in a 777 of my choice, at a selected spped, flaps down, gear down, etc. and on medium final of TNCM...Are you following me? This program will allow me to set an aircraft, the setting of the airplane when creating the situation file (flap positions, airspeed, gear, gas amount, etc.), select if on short final, long final, holding pattern, etc., at a chosen airport. This would be great! So whatever I am in the mood of practicing before entering FS2004, I just set everything up and when Fs2004 starts I would be ready to go....Does something like that, or close to it exist? Thanks knowlegeable experts!!!Carlitos
August 28, 200520 yr hi Carlitos, you don't need any program for this. Just save a flight in the condition and location you want and then when you want to go straight to that flight, go to the FLIGHTS folder and click the icon for that flight and it will load.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
August 29, 200520 yr Thanks Mike,I knew this... But, this means that you have to go physically create each situation you want before using it. What I was thinking maybe a program like those TweakFS programs that will let you choose from your aircraft list which aircraft to use. Then speed, location, situation, weather, etc. so this could be created on the fly.I hope that someone sees this if it hasn't been done because it could be on of the best little utilities ever IMHO.Thanks guys...Carlitos
August 29, 200520 yr And now for the easy way ;-)Firstly I suggest you give a decent name such as "777 at KLAX" to the save file. Close FS9 to test the next bit. Go to My Documents and the folder "Flight Simulator Files" and find eg "777 at KLAX" (the one with the black aircraft icon and doubleclick it, FS9 opens with the flight loaded. To place a shortcut on your Desktop right-click the file the send to > shortcut to desktop. Not a program but it does work just save a flight with flaps at 15, bad weather, approach or whatever. You can add them to the start menu but if you don't know how it's a longer explanation for that one :-) Scrub that here goes.Navigate to your start menu eg "C:Documents and SettingsAndrewStart MenuPrograms" and create a folder called "Custom Flights" or something similar. Cut and paste your previously created shortcut into that folder. When ready to launch it just click. Of course delete the file and the shortcut is invalid so bear that in mind !!!!!!Andrew Brownhttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
August 29, 200520 yr Hi Andrew,Thanks for your post. This is helpful for doing what Mike suggested. Since I haven't gotten a response to what I originally asked for, I am guessing there's no utility for doing this. Basically I am askinf if there's a utility for generating FS2004 Flights, without having to enter FS2004.Thankk you all for your interest and helpfulness..Carlitos
August 29, 200520 yr Author Hi Carlitos,I was developing something similar to what you are asking about here, but there didn
August 29, 200520 yr Hi Ron,This is on the way of what I was thinking. It's good to hear someone is doing something in that way. I am no coder at all, just your average nightly user (when my daughters give me time) and I will be happy to help you in any way possible if you wish...It is rare that there is small interest in this, becuase at least for me, the best part of flying is landing and I love to take off, go around a few times and practice all kinds of landings, to make perfect. If I could choose how to start FS2004 in order to practice this, it would be great (ILS, VFR, severe weather, crosswind landings, emergency procedures, etc.). But it doesn't have to be just for landings... It could also be use for takeoffs (selecting where, which aircraft, weather conditions, time, etc. etc.), situational flights, etc. I think once simmers realize the potential for this, it could be a great utility!!!!Let me know what you think and if I could be of any help...Thanks,Carlitos
August 29, 200520 yr Author Hi Carlitos,I could use some help, I need someone to look over what I have and exchange ideas with. I sent you a private nessage. Thanks,
September 1, 200520 yr Carlitos -You might try David Marshall's Favorite Flights Menu (favorite_flights_menu.zip here at AVSIM).His description:Favorite Flights Menu - a Startup Makeover. This brief, illustrated document will show you how to make a menu of your favorite flights so that you can select one and have FS2004 open at that location, bypassing all of the normal menus. It should not take more than a half hour to set up your own menu following the simple instructions. Compiled in .doc and .pdf formats for your flying enjoyment by David "Opa" Marshall. John
