New to megascenery haveGex Utx etc.

Sure, that's one way to do it.  I take it you mean you are ascending up to 3,000 ft then activating MSE?

Wonder if ORBX regions (instead of GEX and UTX) and MSE can be flown that way as well.....

I do not think you can switch to Orbx in flight.
