Can someone please remind me how to update and/or repair ActiveX?

I keep getting runtime 429 error messages when launching FSX and P3D

Most google searches lead to 'snake oil' fixes!

Tried dxdiag and it shows 'no errors'

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

Most programs that require ActiveX will search your system for ActiveX and make sure it is up-to-date.  Your video card drivers will do that too.  I know programs like P3D and PMDG check and install it if required.  If you have no errors when employing dxdiag, then I would suspect something else.  Microsoft Visuals and Microsoft.net programs deploy run time error messages whenever there is a problem with the installation of the product.  If you had 429 error messages launching FSX and P3D, then it appears you have a problem with the Microsoft Visual C++2011.

Best regards,

Thanks Jim

After trying everything I could in the way of 'fixes', I eventually gave up and rolled back Windows & P3D to an earlier Acronis backup. The error is gone, but now I've got to reinstall a whole bunch of stuff:-(  Ain't ya gotta just love this flight sim stuff;-)

Hi Phil,

We sure do tweak and reinstall and tweak our systems alot.  Actually I think I have learned more about computer systems than flight simulators since when I first started flight simming.  I'm sure you have too!  I have almost gone a year without reinstalling everything and I have a feeling that when I upgrade to Windows 10, I'll be doing it again.  Good luck with your reinstalls!
