I want to do a cold start flight.  Assuming I know the wind direction, I can find the correct runway(s) to take off and land on.  How do I find a gate that is close to those runway(s)? 

 

BTW, I a newbie to flying heavy's.  I have always just used the active runway in flying GA.

If you are flying tubeliners now, I would try for the correct gate according to my airline.  Of course, that gets shot to

 

heck if you are flying the "default" airlines.  Keep in mind that these bigger jets taxi real easily and with Progressive

 

Taxi turned on, you will be able to follow it to the appropriate runway.
