I've installed  fresh mesh succesfully as an add scenery. Is there an ideal setting in the fsx display config  for this add on to be at its best, ie. mesh res, mesh complexity, etc.?

Simply make sure mesh complexity is set to 100, and mesh resolution set to 38 m or lower. I would leave it at 10 m in the case you have an FTX region or two.
