  1. Aren't the new 1060s as fast the as the GTX 980s? Should be more than enough to handle this engine, I would think.
  2. It just reads your scenery library so that GSX is aware of any scenery changes.
  3. I think they were never loaded into memory unless they were in rendering range.
  4. Wow Jane. That is a good story. Glad to hear you were a part of it.
  5. It's the Steam default key for screenshots. You have go into Steam program itself and change the settings for the screenshot hotkey.
  6. It's no slouch on the systems modeling. The level of complexity is definitely more advanced than let's say the Aerosoft Airbus collection, with the depth approaching that of the PMDG model, albeit without that PMDG level of polish. It's pretty solid IMO.
  7. Thanks Simon, I tried your tip, and it has helped me some. It seems FSUIPC4 is messing with my brakes, so I won't use it at all with these brakes axes.
  8. Has anyone figured out the whole brake sensitivity thing? I've tried normal mapping of my brake pedals, and I've tried mapping them via FSUIPC4 and setting a huge curve. But no matter what, the smallest tap of the breaks produces a good 5-8 knot decrease in my taxi speed. It's such an odd thing and breaks the otherwise great immersion.
  9. I'll need to take a look, but if it's an airport plateau then that usually indicates the airports elevation needs to be updated to match the mesh.
  10. Hey thanks! That's good to hear. Did you grab the updates too (1.05, 1.06, and 1.07)? I just want to make sure you get all the fixes and upgrades. As for donations, I do accept PayPal donations to my account at paypal.me/aviatormoser . I'll certainly appreciate it, but don't feel compelled!
  11. I use a quite an old version of SweetFX and it's churning away fine.
  12. Hi Jive, In FS2004, the meshes are divided into separate folders as you said for different "Level of Detail" or in short "LOD". This is no longer needed in FSX where you can compile all the different types of LODs into one .BGL. So this new terrain system will probably not work in FS9. Okay, I understand what you mean by Central America. That is a project I am working on, but since the USA is already LOD10, then you will still have a consistent LOD for the vast majority of the planet. As for the patches, you just need 1.05, 1.06 and 1.07. Each is in their own pinned topic here in our support forum. But like I said, I have a feeling FS9 won't be compatible with FreeMeshX.
  13. I've never tested them for FS9, and since it was compiled by the FSX compilers, I'm not so sure if they are compatible. I think FS2004 mesh files can only be single LOD and FreeMeshX is multiLOD. I'm not sure what you mean by missing Central American files? All of the FreeMeshX files are available. Also, patches 1.01-1.04 are obsolete. Only 1.05-1.07 are needed.
  14. I think you can disable your regions in the Scenery Library.
  15. Hi Nike, I built FreeMeshX because I didn't want to spend money on FS Global. So I don't know much about their products and installation procedure. I know some people do use them side by side, but you don't need both installed. Since you have FS Global 2010 installed, I would place it below FreeMeshX in the scenery library since FreeMeshX generally is higher resolution.
  16. Really good advice, J van E. Mainstream benchmarks don't reflect the CPU bound nature of P3D.
  17. I believe the maximum cannot be forced higher in the P3D.cfg. I've tried and never saw a difference. A little disappointing because I can easily see a ring of trees growing in front of me and disappearing behind when I fly above 10,000 ft.
  18. Ha, I appreciate the offer! However, I don't know if I'll hold you to it because that is just too generous and I would feel awfully guilty.
  19. I run locked at 20 FPS going to Heathrow with a 2600K @4.5 GHz. Other places I can get away with 25 FPS. Sometimes I wonder what is bottlenecking me more. The 2600K or my GTX 660. I felt like I just put this system together and it's so out of date already.
  20. I'm a PhD student on a small stipend who commutes an hour each way. $100 is several tanks of fuel. $100 is a whole week of groceries. $100 is what was just left in my bank account because the school expects you to work as a full-time employee, but only pays you for half-time and only 11 months of the year since they don't want to tack on any kind of benefits. Significant portion of my car payment. $100 is a lot to me. It may be not for you, but that's okay. Money is relative to everyone. IDK how I had "7 years to save". I only really got into this hobby a couple of years ago and only learned of the FSLabs A320 until recently. Plus you're talking to a guy who would rather build his own global mesh that pay $70 for an existing one. I'm cheap and frugal because I have to be at this stage of my life. I just don't see the problem with me not wanting to spend that kind of money. It's in my right to choose what I will buy and not buy based on a certain pricing, and that pricing level will be different for anyone else. I just don't go around criticizing others for their decisions.
  21. $100!!! I was really looking forward to the FSLabs A320, but that price is just cost prohibitive. I would have probably forked over $70-$75, but at $100, this will probably be a lost sale.
