September 19, 200520 yr What is the assessment of this offering after the dust has well and truly settled? The freeware version with its awesome unequalled turboprop sounds is still one of my favourite FS9 aircraft. However, at its release the much anticipated payware upgrade disappointed because of it inflated cost, mediocre 2D graphics (just rehashed freeware stuff) and what seemed a host of other niggly issues that should not be present in an addon with such a high pricetag. There has now been a patch so perhaps time for reconsideration. Grateful for any input from payware Fanda Dash 8 users.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." September 19, 200520 yr Hello,I have this for about 2 days and CANNOT put it down! I have the PSS version and also have many "high end" addons. This one is the best I have!I'm only a sim flyer so:1. Almost everything is modeled.2. It behaves almost perfectly3. I cannot notice anything that does not work4. The FMS seems flawless to me5. The sound is great6. FPS on my machine (very fast) seem fine7. Autopilot seems fine8. The heads-up-display system is awesome for CATIIIThere are a few things I found:1. I got a CTD when I loaded it up - I have to do the "Flight 1 ATR" thing and start with a C172 default2. The liveries had to be installed in my aircraft cfg by me - it was easy but I'm not sure why they came with the installation and were "on the side".3. Cabin sounds are in German / English. They can be shut off but I really think new ones for the Air Canada version would be great. It even play cabin music! So far I have to give this one a 10. Being only a sim pilot, I cannot tell you if the flight model is OK but it seems OK to me. Little things like failure to shut down fans and bleeds for takeoff rob power. Warnings seem very acute and the taxi performance is as described in the docs - Tiller steering and all!
September 19, 200520 yr I have mostly a lot of fun with the Dash-8. It's very immersive, the sound and feeling of flight are excellent and it has just the right amount of system simulation for my taste. If it runs flawless. Unfortunately it doesn't always run flawless even after the patch. The Autopilot occasionally all of a sudden shows strong oscillations in the yaw axis and gets out of control. Happens on my two PCs, so it seems to be independent of fps.Even more disturbing, the plane has a lot of problems with real weather. The slightest turbulence and the Dash-8 starts shaking in the yaw axis with an amount that I have never seen in any FS plane. It's a bit worrying, because it's unsolved since two months now, but I hope Fanda will come up with a solution soon. The panel graphics are indeed nothing to write home about, but it's not an issue at all. I can't really explain why. Probably it's the 'being there' feeling, that shifts the importance of eye-candy in the background.Mike
September 20, 200520 yr Author Thanks guys. I might wait and see if a fix is forthcoming for the problems with real weather as I use ASV on every flight. I've cobbled together a hack with the freeware version that includes the PSS VC which will have to do for now: but not ideal as I've had to dispense with side views in 2D and some of the VC gauges don't work.
