How Do I Install Add On's Outside the Prepar3D V3 Core Folder

Introduction.         (For Beginners) 
 
This is a step by step guide to Install 3rd party Software (Ad On's)  Outside the Prepar3D v3 Core folder.
 
I will do 2 things 
 
(1) I will Install the TurbineDuke V2 by Real Simulations.  This Airplane is 100% Compatible to Install Outside the Prepar3D folder,  In other words, i will run the Installer and that's basically it, Nothing else needed.   To date there are very few (if any) other compatible Airplanes to install this way. 
 
(2)  I will Install FlyTampa Copenhagen Airport Scenery Outside the Prepar3D Folder,  Some extra work is required to have this Scenery working correctly.

Relevant Information 
 
I have Installed Prepar3D v3.1 on a separate Drive 500 SSD  (My G Drive) 
 
I will be using My G Drive to create and Install all my 3rd party software (Ad On's)

Important 

Anti virus Software: When your Installing 3rd Party Software (Add On's) from a Trusted source it is recommended to add the Installer to your Exclusions Zone of your Anti virus Software to stop the Install process being disrupted

User Account Control:  You can disable your User account Control from also possibly disrupting the Install process by typing   uac  in your windows search bar.  Click Never notify and Click Ok

 By default the TurbineDuke Installer will want to Install to your C Drive drive, The Installer will create its own folder Automatically. If you are happy with this location Click next, You are now finished

1 If you choose to Install somewhere else, Like me,  i will be installing on my G Drive. In this case i will create a folder to Install my TurbineDuke to,  i will call it TurbineDuke V2.   2 Click Next

(2) Well that's it, all finished,  The TurbineDuke Installer will Install everything you need,   you can go and Fly your new plane no

(4) Understanding of how it all works 
 
 
When you install Prepar3D and Regardless of where you choose to install,   4 folders will automatically install to your C Drive.    In  Airplane terms these folder are the EEC,  Electronic Engine Control  (the brain) of Prepar3D.  These folders do all the talking,  they communicate to your main Prepar3D core folder,  basically these folders have all the nerve endings and messengers to make Prepar3D Fly. 
      
The folder i have highlighted in red has all the files you will need need to modify and add new Paths= to Scenery and Airplanes, including simobjects.cfg  effects.cfg, gauges.cfg,  sound.cfg and many more.

 ► Computer ► Local Disk (C:) ►ProgramData ► Lockheed Martin ► PreparD v3     What's in this folder  simobjects.cfg  effects.cfg, gauges.cfg,  sound.cfg and many more.
 
 ► Computer ► Local Disk (C:) ► Users ► your user name ► AppData ► Roaming ► Lockheed Martin ► PreparD v3   What's in this folder,   Prepar3D.cfg  Cameras.cfg and many more
 
 ► Computer ► Local Disk (C:) ► Users ► your user name ► AppData ► Local ► Lockheed Martin ► PreparD v3       What's in this folder,   Your Shaders folder

(4) A look underneath the Installer
 
Regarding the TurbineDuke V2
 
If you click on your TurbineDuke folder you will see this,  3 folders,  The effects folder will have  all your little effects, lights, smoke and so on. The Realair folder will have your Config pane (control) Documents and Uninstaller in it.
 
The Simobjects folder will have the actual plane, the sounds, and the textures inside.

In the TurbineDukes case when you run the Installer the Simobjects and Effects folder's will automatically be connected to you simobjects.cfg and effects.cfg and then of course onto your Main Prepar3D folder

As you can see from the image the Installer will add automatically add the TurbineDuke for your simobjects and effects to the top of the list, This is Perfect

(5)  Understanding your Path= to  simobjects.cfg and your effects.cfg pathway
 
Your Path= will link your simobjects and effects to the correct .cfg's 
 
The TurbineDuke Installer has already done all this for me,  I am only using this as an example for future reference of adding and modifying your own .cfg's  
 
1  I installed my TurbineDuke to my G Drive and  Renamed my folder to  TurbineDuke V2  Notice how i left a   Space   between Duke and V2 this is important, if you choose to leave a space between words when renaming a folder you will now have to take into this space into account If Or When manually adding your to your simobjects.cfg or effects.cfg      
 
2 This is also the correct Path for effects.cfg   Notice the  space

(7) Manually adding your Simobjects and Effects 
 
You will need to Locate this folder for this next bit   ► Computer ► Local Disk (C:) ►ProgramData ► Lockheed Martin ► Prepar3D v3 
 
To find this folder you will need to Insure the box is Ticked for  Show hidden files, folders and drives
 
I have installed my Add On to my G Drive so the start of my Path is Path=G.  You have to add your own Path=C\D\E\F 
 
This same procedure applies for adding Entry's to all your .cfg's files located in this folder  Simobjects, Effects, Gauges, Sounds, Terrain  and so on 
 
1 You can add your new Entry to the bottom OR the top of the list.  2 First i will copy and then the paste first Entry and move it down slightly (Default Airplanes).  3 When finished,  i will be sure to adjust my Entry Numbers from top to bottom  0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11   As you can see from the image on the Right i have put my new Entry at the top of the list.  4 I will now Click File and Save my new Entry

(7) Adding effects to your effects.cfg 
 
The same applies, add your new Entry to the top Or bottom of the list,  Change you Entry Numbers,  Click File and Save

(2)  Installing Airport Scenery
 
Fly Tammpa Copenhagen.   Some extra work is involved here. 
 
1 By default the Installer will want to Install into Prepar3D v3.   I want to Install to a different location so i will hit browse,  I will Click on Make New Folder and i will Rename my new folder FlyTampCop,  short of course for FlyTampa Copenhagen.  To make things easier for me when manually adding Entry's to my.cfg files i will Not leave any spaces.   2  As you can see from the image,  i have clicked on my New Folder to Install,  but it will not let me Click Ok.  This is because the FlyTampa Installer is looking for Prepar3D and of course i do not have Prepar3D Installed in this folder.   There is a small work around.

1 Go to your Prepar3D Install location,  Right Click on Prepar3D.exe and copy (Do Not Move the exe)  Just Click Copy.    2  Go to your FlyTampa folder,  Right Click and Paste directly into the folder, just like the image shows.

I now have a Copy of the Prepar3D.exe in my FlyTampa folder

I can now proceed and Install my Airport Scenery.   Click Ok.    Click Next

This will add FlyTampa to my Scenery.cfg.   I will also download the Libraries. I will Manually add this later

I will be manually adding the effects to my effects.cfg and adding the Scenery Objects as well,  like little Ramp people and so on.  If you want to play along, tick these boxes.

Launch Prepar3D and type EKCH into the Airport search option.  Your airport will look like this.  I will now add my FlyTampa Scenery.

Go to your Scenery Library in Prepar3D,  go to  World  (top left)    1 Add Area.   2 Click Browse.   3 Navigate through your FlyTamp Folder and select Scenery, Click Ok.   4 Click Ok

Your new Scenery will pop in on top,  I'm happy to leave it there.  Click Ok.  You can move your Scenery down if you like,  or if you have Orbtx, just go to your FTX Central,  Click Groups and Click Apply Groups.

I will now manually add the effects to my effects.cfg.   This is just 2 small examples of before and after effects have been added.  Image on the left shows a dimmed down flood light were as the image on the Right has that nice glare effect to it.  Also behind the Airport is the location of the Hilton Hotel,  If you look closely you will see the Red beacon on top of the hotel on the Right.  This is not in the Left image

Double Click on effects.cfg.  Your effects.cfg Notepad will pop up.  You can copy and paste the first Entry to the bottom and change your No,  your Title, and especially important your Path= as you can see this is my path,  this time i did not leave a space.  Click file and Save you new Entry.

The little Ramp people and other little objects are located in your FlyTampa\Libraries.  Same procedure as before.  Go to your Scenery Library,  Navigate through your FlyTampa folder and click Libraries.  Click Ok
