September 29, 200520 yr Hello,I am an avid FS hobbiest - not a real pilot but really enjoy my sim setup. I have recently gotten into Russian Aircraft - I do not speak Russian and realize the limitations that this can cause. I also am aware of the background of the developers from many posts on forums. My current sim flying/training is on the IGFLY TU154B and the SCDS YAK-40. IMHO, both of these are really immersive simulations that seem to require a lot of preflight from cold and dark. I have learned from their documentation (English) how to go from cold and dark to cruise flight - a real chore in the case of the YAK-40 - this takes me about 30 minutes to get to the taxiway (real time I am told). What I would like to know is:1. Does anyone have experience with Russian airport scenery like the IGFLY Moscow Airport?2. Does anyone know where there is english info on the nav systems for these aircraft? The tutorials do not cover a lot here.As of now, I am flying these aircraft manually and am having a "hoot" with my little successes. Combined with my recent conquest of the Majestic Dash8 I have learned to fly a little in Europe and Russia without an FMS.Thanks in advance for any help possible,Ron SagelNEAR KCHS
September 29, 200520 yr Hallooo.Get the Project Tupolev TU-154b from here:http://www.protu-154.com/index_e.htmlIt's fantastic. An english manual/Tutorial has been written which is included with the download, it contains great info on flying Russian style (although the guy who wrote it is obviously MUCH smarter than me!) There's a GPS and an INS available if you don't get on with the standard system, and a weather radar too.The forum is here:http://www.protu-154.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2Also, go here for some free Russian Scenery links and more info:http://vatrus.net.ru/Look at the left hand panel for the links to the various Russian FIR's (Flight information regions) which will lead you to scenery and charts. The SAMDIM Antonov AN24-RV vers.2 from the AVSIM library is also a great free plane. It's Navigation systems are basic and common in Russian aircraft. There's a great manual with this plane also. If you understand this plane, you should be able to apply that knowlege to the other Russian planes you already own.Any problems, PM me.Jim HarrisEGNX
