Is this 430/530 anything more than a reskinned default GPS?

Featured Replies

Mindstar,

I fly various C172's IRW and purchased this application because I thought that it modelled the real-life 430/530.  From all that I can see, this is really nothing more than a re-skinned default GPS.  The GPS Map display looks absolutely nothing like the real one, and there is no terrain modeling.  The airport info pages are not correct (I bought the RealData subscription too).  You cannot create a flight plan, or if you can, I can't figure it out and there's no documentation for it.  This does not allow you to do WAAS approaches.

In all, I feel that I wasted $50 on a product that is nothing more than a bezel for the FSX/P3D default GPS.   So I wonder, am I experiencing issues with the product, or is this really what it is?

Hoping that  this ends up being something I'm doing wrong...

Hi Tom
I think you've got the wrong impression of this.addon.
I often prefer it to the GTN 750 - sacrilege!
Suggest you watch this series of videos which clearly shows what it can and cannot do.

Cheers

It actually  has tons of functionality that the stock gps does not have.. Just start by exploring the MENU button on any page  and you will find lots of goodies....
