Is Rex texture and GEX the same concept

Recommended Posts

Just curious if REX texture direct does the same as GEX?

I'll be looking at updating my ground textures but confused on these 2 program, I know for sure GEX does what I'm looking for, but curious about REX texture direct?

Also one more quick one about REX, if I eventually get active sky next will REX soft clouds be redundant? As in does active sky next have its own cloud textures?

Trying to avoid double spending this time around with my fresh fsx steam coming from fs9 after a few years.

Thanks

GEX updates general ground textures - field, urban, commercial etc etc but does not touch airport textures. REX is the opposite way round only updating ground (and other) textures at stock airports. As far as I understand it they are mutually exclusive.

ASN contains no textures so your REX soft clouds will not be redundant.

This is all from experiencing of owning GEX, REX Essential+, REX4 with Soft Clouds and ASN across FSX and P3D.

GEX = Ground textures

REX = Sky, Cloud, Water ect.

ASN has no textures it will use whatever set you have installed from REX or any other source.

In my opinion FTX Global is a lot nicer than GEX especially if you fly in Europe a lot.
