October 1, 200520 yr I am trying to introduce some realism into my flying, and after downloading the current metars for a flight this afternoon, i am wondering if it would be accepatble to fly in conditions as this :-I am planning a trip from Blackpool (EGNH) To Stornoway (EGPO) but the conditions at EGPO are bad winds 23 kts, Visibility is ok at 10 miles. In general terms what would be considered acceptable conditions to fly in.
October 1, 200520 yr It really depends on what type of aircraft you'll be flying and whether the wind is straight down the runway or a crosswind. I fly Cessnas in real life with 20+ kt winds here in the northeast US, as those conditions happen quite a bit, and I wouldn't consider that "bad". The difference is whether the wind is a headwind or a crosswind on takeoff and landing.
October 1, 200520 yr yes sorry should have said what type, its the FSD Commander, in general i fly small GA AC.Thanks
October 1, 200520 yr Author Dunno about a commander, but a Navajo Cheiftain has a recommended max Xwind limit of 20knots..depends on the plane and whos drivin it!!
