PMDG 737 boxed version ok on Win 10?

Recommended Posts

hi all,

To my surprise, following a conversation with a tech specialist from another flight sim software company i was told that Windows 10 may prevent the installation of their boxed software due to the following (verbatim):

"That is correct. Your drive will be able to view/read the disk but will not be able to decrypt the installer files during installation so will not work. The installation will stop at the point where it is verifying the disk and preparing for decryption.

This is the case for any disk that uses Safedisc or Securom DRM (including several of Microsofts own older games like FS2004). As nearly all our boxed products use Safedisc they will be affected by this blocking. It also affects a lot of big-name games from the fairly recent past. Safedisc was an industry standard DRM system for 15 years and used by all the big computer games companies.
We are not happy about it but this is Microsoft so they can do what they want it seems. Even if that affects other companies or customers adversely.  If enough people complain then they might relent but I have seen no sign of it so far. "

I am asking here to you all whether this is true also with PMDG 737 boxed version, which i have. Will it install on Win 10? I am building a new rig and i am debating between Win 7 and Win 10. By the way, this person told me that the downloadable version of the same software is instead OK on Win10.

thank you

If you own the boxed version you should update to the new version, which is a full installer anyway. See the support article on the support site at Aerosoft (the origin of all boxed editions). Provide your license key to them and you get a downloadable installer. New version. No CD issue.

May i ask you what OS you are using?

Win 10. All of our current offerings (737 and 777) are compatible with Win 10.
