NGX Does Not Like Certain DPs, et cetera

Featured Replies

I have noticed that the NGX has a dislike for certain routes, but I don't know why.

For example, TRALR SIX out of KLAS. The NG swings back and forth between waypoints and only settles once it's cleared those short-spaced waypoints.

Is this just the way it is?

You didn't mention the departure runway, so i am just guess that you used 25L/R and there is a series of waypoints to route you crosswind then upwind before the NE leg to TRALR.

Watch what the aircraft is doing then try to describe it.

What I observe is that the aircraft may overshoot a major turn then reverse bank to come back to desired track. There are two tricks I use to work this tendency. One is control speed, for example 230 instead of 250 makes it much easier to negotiate those corners.  The other is reset the next waypoint to "center" the track, just select the top LSB, press it again, then EXEC.

Ok I'll try slowing the speed.  I don't recall what speed was being commanded.  And yes, 25L/R are the runways I'm departing from.  I have done "direct to" a couple times and it didn't seem to make much difference.

I'm gonna try it later and see.

Well I made a second attempt and all went perfect.  Expect the first flight did that mouse not responding thing so I had to restart.

I limited the speed in the FMC for the first few waypoints to 210 and it was great.  I'll have to remember that.  Trying to fix these short spaced fixes with a direct to intervention didn't work.  Best landing I've done is while too.
