Welcome to the world of Ikarus C42

The Ikarus C42, manufactured in Germany by Comco Ikarus, has 45 years of experience designed into it to make it one of the most successful production aircraft in the air. Approved and endorsed by Comco Ikarus in Germany, this is the first ever professionally designed Ikarus C42a for flight simulation, featuring accurate flight dynamics that have been tested over many months by C42 pilots around the world to ensure it is as true to real life flying experience as possible.

This FSX (and soon to come P3D) product, developed by SIM720 and AirSIM in full collaboration, brings for the first time the joy of being in the realistic world of the Ikarus C42, positioned firmly as a leader in the Ultralight / Microlight aircraft range. Whether you are taking off from your in-game local grass strip or airport, island hopping or just wanting to experience your add on scenery to the full, the Ikarus C42a gives you the freedom and time to experience true VFR flight; but be careful, this is no toy. Flight dynamics are real: so much so that approval for being realistic is already secured from the manufacturers COMCO Ikarus and the flight dynamics are already in use for real flight training in an approved C42a simulator.

The Ikarus C42a is an innovative, modern, advanced ultralight aircraft that sets the standard for fun and affordable flying. It is a technically mature, highly capable, two-seat aircraft designed primarily for the light sports aviation market and has become the world's most popular training aircraft that makes adventurous flying exciting and rewarding. With an MTOW of just 450kg, the C42a is classed as a microlight but do not let that fool you. With its traditional high-wing design, you could be forgiven for thinking this was a GA aircraft. The handling and flight performance of this machine is superb, making this a really fun and rewarding aircraft to start your journey to becoming a pilot.

So don't delay, add this aircraft to your hanger. Admired by all for its stunning real to life imagery, enjoy the challenge of flying from A to B in VFR flight.

It looks lovely - but at £25, I think we need to see far more of it, than that video above shows us.  Sounds are very important in a Microlight - if it sounds like the default C172 then that'd be a big turn off.   I'm sure it doesn't, but we need to see more.   Not interested in hearing library music while seeing a few glances of it.

If I were able to have seen more of what this product offers, it would have been a day one purchase for me.  But with the lack of showcasing in the above video, I will - I think like a lot of people - need to wait until some videos show up on YouTube, to evaluate the aircraft better; especially the sounds.

- Are the engine sounds made with recordings from a real C42?

- Does it have interior switchgear, and other immersive sounds?

- How are the start up sounds?

- Does it model the distinctive 'squeak' of the C42 in landing?

- What is gauge fluidity like?

- The windows seem to be quite heavily 'coloured' and the view outside seems somewhat washed out?

- Am I right in thinking that no pilot(s) have been modelled in the exterior model view?

I know I'm labouring the point, but the above video doesn't answer any of these questions.

Thanks,

As per other thread.  Now noticed that your prices do not include VAT and so this product costs £30 inclusive ($40).

That is really expensive for what is being offered in my opinion.

I was interested, but this is just excessively priced, and I would not pay that price for it.

Certainly not with some of the questionable quality texturing from the screenshots.

There are now quite a few screenshots on the SIM720 Ikarus C42 product page.

Just a shame that we still haven't heard one single decibel of sound from this product.  Nothing.  Not a rumble, not an engaged starter.

It worries me that this suggests that perhaps they feel the sounds aren't worthy of showing off, or at least that they don't prioritize or value sound, within aircraft addon development.     Sweeping conjecture - but until they prove me wrong, who knows?
