GPU vs CPU feature list?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if there is a list of P3D graphics settings that explains a specific feature being either GPU or CPU driven/limited.

i.e.  If I move the vegetation slider full right, that affects GPU performance.  I do have an idea of some, but I would like to be able to tweak my settings for my GTX 1080.

Honestly, I do not think that there are a lot of settings that are strictly either CPU or either GPU bound. You example: yes, more vegetation needs more GPU performance, of course, because it is a visually recognizable object, no? But I guess that calculating the position of the trees etc. will also use CPU performance. As you can have low FPS using extreme autogen settings even with a GTX-1080 if combined with a i3 or and AMD CPU. Same goes for almost everything, no? Maybe only those things inside the "graphics" menue of P3D are really only GPU bound, which is not a lot besides resolution, antialiasing and stuff. And of course: those clouds. Using antialiasing modes like SGSSAA and cloudy weather still kills any GPU.

Greetings, Chris
