August 31, 20169 yr Hi Do we need to update this in P3D ? http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids.html Is it related to default airports only ? Thanks Michael Moe Michael Moe
August 31, 20169 yr Updating the Mag Var database is useful if you want your rw properly aligned with Magnetic North according to present date Nav databases, instead of those ( which are still from before 2006 ) used in FSX and AFAIK ported to P3D in it's present versions. It should have a side effect in the Map view though, which as described in that document can become unusable in some aspects. What about payware airports ? newer ones proberly has foreseen this but older ported ones is on a different "North" right ? Michael Moe Michael Moe
August 31, 20169 yr I believe that in as far as magnetic declination goes, even add-on airports still use the old underlying database, which creates a necessary problem for runways that probably even changed their numeration since 2006. Using Hervé's magvar files solves that problem. PMDG's 777 also has an option to automatically align with the runway mag heading.
