Lengthy Pause Cause OOM Errors

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

There's a lot of topics about OOM errors out there, but I have a circumstance that I haven't found addressed yet. My errors occur when I pause for an extended time. You see, I have occasions where I begin a flight and then realise that I will not complete the flight early enough in the evening, so I pause and resume the following day after work. This essentially means that I can be paused for almost 24 hours.

Yes, that's an extremely long time. However, I never used to have this happen. I think it was with P3D V3 I started noticing this. Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent this error - other than not to pause for so long?

Thanks!

We all are plauged by OOM.  There are so many causes.  We are all waiting for LM to properly fix this.

Lengthy pause can lead to OOM either by LM base software or addon can start leaking etc.  Too many variables here

Hmmm, okay. Thanks for the input Skywolf. I feel like it could be caused by some sort of leak as that would make logical sense why pausing would induce this problem.

Thanks

Best bet is to save the flight and then resume later by reloading the saved flight.  The better advanced panels will save out a fairly complete snapshot of the acft state.  A side benefit is your PC isn't wasting electricity running a 3D app the entire day...my main FS PC draws about 700W when running P3D...leaving that going for 24 hours would waste about $3 of electricity doing nothing useful.

There is an issue that latest P3D 3.3.5 isn't releasing VAS as fast as it needs to.  For example if you use a FSX only addon on P3Dv3.3.5 - then I have seen few times that this is higher chance of VAS leak which leads to OOM after some time.

If you are pausing the sim for that long, best option is to save the flight using FSUIPC and load it when you resume.
