# P3d hangs

## Recommended Posts

Hello all

I just wanted to do my first long haul (for a very long time) However, as I was cruising, after 58 hours, it crashed, aka just froze, moved down the process explorer and stopped.

Next, I thought, okay, so gonan fly from omdb back then. it worked, for, like 2 and a half hours, but it crashed again, same things.

I'm trying to track down a log, but I can't find one. Any tips on whatever?

You ran out of VAS or came close to have an Out of Memory (OOM) crash.  It is rare, extremely rare that anyone can have a flight session longer than 3-5 hours without running out of member.  See the AVSIM CTD Guide, page 30, Freezes during Flight, and OOM errors on page 34 for more information.  I personally monitor VAS during my flight sessions using the FSUIPC utility (see page 15, AVSIM CTD Guide).  It provides a log as to how much VAS was available when your application crashed.  It will also provide a warning (dings in the background) when the application is about to run out of memory.  It works on both the freeware and payware versions.

Best regards,

Jim

Did I say hours? I meant 58 minutes..wow... good morning me. And I was monitoring my vas (using process explorer) and it stayed nicely at 3,2 departing from eham, and 2,9 departing from omdb.. so.. I can't iamgine it was that . Sorry for that :S. Thanks for the reply though !

Then you will need to look at addons like EZDOK that was not made for P3D.  Some members have gotten it to work but addons like this should be your first suspect.  IMHO, it is impossible that the freeze was caused by P3D as P3D works flawlessly in default mode without any addons.

Sometimes these freezes just happen without any explanation (like yours).  You restart Windows and P3D and it doesn't freeze up again (or not for a long time).  I have gotten many over my lifetime with P3D and I just disregard them.  If they happen at the same time in the same location, then that might indicate an issue with AI.

If you have any tweaks installed in your P3D.cfg, those should be suspect too as the cause of the freeze.  Your computer system simply does not like your parameters.

Best regards,

Jim
