QWSim Avro RJ Owners...

Recommended Posts

A question to those who own the QualityWings avro RJ/BAe 146 collection.

After buying the Justflight/cls 146, I would rather have an Avroliner over the original 146, I just can't quite get the knack for the old style autopilot the 146 has.

I got the justflight one for its simplicity, which is where my question comes in.

With the QW Avro RJ, can you get it to follow a default flight plan created in the FSX flight planner?

Also

Is there a GPS panel pop out to track progress of said flight?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

There are plenty of tutorial videos available on youtube outlining the fmc use.

Not the question I asked :P

If I wanted to fly fmc, I would do, but I'm not that into simming anymore, a quick hope following a gps route is all I need.

With the JF/CLS 146, pushing the LNAV button, set the aircraft to follow the default gps plan, that's all I'm after in the QW Avro.

I just don't like the old autopilot in the 146s, much prefer a modern one such as that used in the Avro RJ.

If the QW Avro has that option to follow a gps plan, they'll be getting my money.

The QW RJ does have a follow GPS plan option in "lite" mode.    You can also tell the FMC to load your GPS plan and it will follow it.

I have the JF 146, and it is OK, but I actually haven't even installed it in my last couple of FSX setups.  I like the QW offering much more.   It isn't perfect, but it is very, very nice and really fun to fly.

I bit the bullet and bought it, loving it.

the JF/CLS 146 is nice, but for the same price, the QW pack gives you the RJ series, which is what I was after.

Not stopped flying it all day, only found 1 major issue on FSX:SE though with it.

Sometimes the air brakes / spoilers don't work. Not by key command, or by clicking the hotspots / click points in the 2D or VC.

Normally the first flight in it will be fine, try to do another after completing a flight, and they won't work. Whether I restart the sim or not. Rebooting the PC then restarting the sim fixes it.

However I think I found a solution, by selecting the ready for takeoff panel save in the fmc, then shutting the aircraft down manually to cold and dark. Only tried that twice so can't confirm it works 100% just yet.
