Request Crossing Runway

Featured Replies

I get the instructions to taxi to runway 31L and hold short at runway 22R. When I get to runway 22R I request to cross the runway. I get confirmation to cross 22R.

Now I am at my takeoff runway 31L and request for departure. I change the freq to Tower and request departure. Tower tells me to contact Ground for Taxi instructions.

This usually happens when Pilot2ATC has a different active runway in mind.  It can also happen if you are not at the very end of the runway or a little too far from the edge of the runway.  Finally, it could happen if there is a data issue with the taxi/runway definitions.

If this happens, go ahead and request taxi from Ground and see what runway they give instructions to taxi to.  It might solve the mystery.

I normally fly with the "Force Pilot Runway Selection" option checked and then request a specific runway to taxi to.  That locks the runway to the one I request and this has lower odds of happening because a runway change won't happen during taxi.

Dave

Problem Solved. At least in this case. After crossing runway 22R I was requesting departure to far from runway 31L
