November 28, 200520 yr Howdy all,Can someone tell me if Ultimate Traffic has FedEx and if it does the Memphis airport right. That is FedEx in the north area using 90/270 and the rest of the carriers in the south terminals with the North/South approaches.ThanksMitch
November 28, 200520 yr Hi there,Yes UT has Fedex, and if I remember correctly from when I used to use it, chances are the Fedex planes will never be in the correct places. In fact no planes will be. The AFCADS are very inaccurate, as are the flightplans. It may give you what you want at Memphis though. November 28, 200520 yr There is an excellent fedex package in the library for Fedex which includes an excellent AFCAD for KMEM.Lots and lots of purple aeroplanes.Darren

I fly for UPSVAC and when ever I load FS9 at a Cargo gate,in the UPS section of an airport, I see UPS aircraft. Same thing with the Delta Gates for Delta airlines
November 28, 200520 yr >There is an excellent fedex package in the library for Fedex>which includes an excellent AFCAD for KMEM.>Lots and lots of purple aeroplanes.>DarrenDo you happen to know which one it is. I found about four KMEM AFCADS and a couple of FedEx packs, but the one I tried I could not find the aircraft for the textures and most of the Airports where missing when I tried to load with TTools.ThanksMitch
November 28, 200520 yr Yep, same here. While UT issn't real accurate, it has all the airraft coded in their AFCADS to park in specific spots, could be you have a non UT AFCAD installed.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
November 28, 200520 yr The Ultimate Traffic flight plans and standard aircraft / repaints definitely include FedEx.Brian Mitchell's FedEx flight plans - fedex_ver_1.0.zip - and repaints by Tony Fosler are excellent. You should definitley install the repaints - though you will need the following models.basepack_md_widebody.zip - MD 11 / DC 10 / MD 10abwb.zip & ai_airbus_complete_120685.zip - A300 & A310aia721pk.zip - B721aia722p2.zip - B722I would also recommend that you use Jan Martin's Flight Dynamics - especially on the A300 & A310 - since those models might include FS2002 flight dynamics .AIR and aircraft.cfg files. - http://de.geocities.com/janswebsites/flightsim/index.htmlYou may want to use Brian's flight plans - depending on whether or not you have the most up to date UT flight plans. Brian did an extremely good job in his quest for good FDX flight plans. But so has UT. Remember as a cargo airline - a significant portion of the FDX flights are not in anyone's schedules.Very few of the original Ultimate Traffic AFCAD files will have accurate parking for various airlines. One issue was the very short time needed to get over 1,500 AFCAD files completed. The more significant issue is that in the two years since the AFCAD files were completed - airports and airlines have changed a great deal. The KSDF AFCAD which I completed for UT does not have UPS designated for the majority of the cargo spots. Also for the vast majority of airports - there was simply no way to tell which airlines used which gates or parking areas. One other point - none of the original Ultimate Traffic AFCAD files will have crossing runways working. That technique was not discovered until well after the UT package was complete.(Just in case anyone asks - Traffic 2004 and Traffic 2005 use the very same AFCAD files)The Ultimate Traffic default AFCAD for KMEM has a lot of parking around the FDX terminal area.In my opinion, it does not have sufficient parking around the passenger gate area.I recommend you try the file by Bob Bernstein, from David Strate's base file - af2_kmem_bb.zip - in the Avsim Library. Also you might want to try the file for KMEM by SWilliams on the Project AI AFCAD site - http://afcad.projectai.com/ - in the FS2004 Download section. If you have installed the KMEM Scenery by Vladimir Svoboda (Cesmina) - kmem2004.zip - in the Avsim library - he includes a good AFCAD file and there is another on the PAI web site.I have not looked at or evaluated the file by Diego Tellez - however since he lives and flies in the local area - it might be worthwile to test.
November 28, 200520 yr Hey Mitch, I live in Memphis, and used to work at the airport for a few years. I can tell you that FedEx uses 09/27 no more than the 18/36's. Mostly it depends on the winds, but you will see more traffic land on 18R/36L and 18L/36R ( departing on 18C/36C mostly and the L/R's, depends on time of day though... around 4 PM CST and 3 AM CST are both FedEx prime time for departures ) more than you will on 09/27. You'll almost never see traffic landing on the center runway, and during the prime times of non-FedEx time, you won't see much traffic on 09/27 either. I'd guess for every 20 approaches, 1 may land on 09/27. I used to use UT, and the traffic just doesn't flow right for FedEx. For instance, FedEx has around 75+ departures each 12 hours in prime time at Memphis. But in the sim with 100% traffic on, you may see 10-20 tops for the 2 hours of departure time during their prime time. FedEx is a machine during their prime time. Every 30 seconds you'll see 2 departures, one on 18R/36L and one on 18L/36R or 18C/36C ( depending on the plane and load ). I'd say every 1-2 minutes you'll also see a departure from 09/27. I've been up in the tower during the start of their 4 PM rush... it's insane to watch :) They asked me to leave when it started getting really busy... Memphis Tower right now is very very cramped until they get the new one built. They almost have the feeder road moved completely so they can build the new tower where the old road went through. It'll be nearly double the height to rid themselves of some remaining blind spots and 3-4x as roomy up top. I can't wait until the 380 comes so I can head back down there and check it out :) I no longer work there, but I know everyone there on the Memphis Airport Police so I hope to get escorted out on the ramp during that big day. :) I'll bring my digital cam for that day for sure ;)
November 28, 200520 yr Hey Guys, Thanks for the info, this is just what I needed. I have been using the PAI pakage(s), but they do not have one for FedEx. I also noticed that there just does not seem to be any other flights airborne between 2200 to 0500 hours. Any ideas on what is up with that.I have the Brian Mitchell's set up, the thing with that is yes there are FedEx in the north area of KMEM, but also scattered all around the airport.Hey Jeff, I am 80 miles east of you, in Jackson. I just figured FedEx used 9/270 all the time. I got a friend who lives south of Germantown and every time I was out there that is all I ever saw on the west approach was FedEx. Thanks for the info.Mitch
November 29, 200520 yr UT includes FedEx plans. BUT, they are not complete since only a portion of the FedEx plans are included with the source data used by UT.Matt
November 29, 200520 yr I live south of Germantown as well. There are, in fact, a good number of approaches into 27 there, but if you saw the number of north/south approaches in comparison you'd see what I mean :)
