Recommended Posts

thinking of an upgrade to a thrust master warthog hotas , giving theres no z axis .   ie twist on the stick.   what are the opinions of the learned flight simmers.     any one who users one which is there best way of attending to yaw(( Saitek x 52 at moment) I find a bit limp

Last week there was a sale for the HOTAS which included a free pair of rudder pedals.  I don't have a link, but think it was on Amazon. It's probably still going on.

Best wishes.

Rudder pedals are the way to go. I use the Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle quadrant, and Saitek PRO Flight Combat Rudder Pedals for yaw (and toe brakes).

I previously used the CH rudder pedals, which are well made, but too close together for comfort and a bit small for my feet (shoe size 13). They also had a noticeable "clunk" when passing through the detent at the center position. That's not so good for helicopters where you want fine control on the yaw axis, or steering a plane during the takeoff roll. The Saitek pedals are further apart with less detent in the middle.

You can get more expensive pedals from higher-end sim companies, but these work for me.

I've been using Pro rudder pedal with Warthog for years and so far things have been fine. I never got used to the twist thing for rudder control, way too artificial.
