Installshield error when trying to install FSX in Windows 10

Featured Replies

I have now seen two independent reports of users trying to re-install their FSX disks on a newly built Windows 10 system and getting persistent Installshield errors that prevent them from installing their FSX copy.

Anyone know what might be going on??

This describes the error, but the proposed fixes do not appear to work..

The link you provided is the general workaround options for any Installer error for MS Games.   Not sure whether any of those options worked for anyone with an FSX problem - never seen any feedback about it.   However, for quite some time the following link was more helpful:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/928080

Even though this one gave better results, the download feature for the Software Licencing System Reset Tool, doesn't work anymore.   Anyway, I send this link simply so you can read about this problem that sometimes arises when reinstalling FSX, though you can't download from the site.

The other site that provides a download is:

https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/18934/fsx-resetsldlexe/

This does the same thing as the KB928080 option but goes through a shorter process.   There is a Readme file in the zipped MSKB928080 to explain the process.   It is supposed to reference the following Error codes:  1605, 1607, 1622, 1628, and 1722 that may come up during the installation process. Should state that this fix is not a guarantee as some still flounder at the installation level.
