>....As a commercial pilot told me, have fun with those NBD's,>because in real life they are slowly being dismanteled by the>FAA in the US. Even VOR's are on the endangered species list.>No lie. Um, you know, satellites can be shot down. It is not totally out of the question that one nation-state may find reason to destroy the navigation equipment of another. And before you say it, no that wouldn't be an act of war. At most, that would be an act that calls for a "measured response" in the form of a few cruise missiles. So, it's probably a good idea to have some kind of backup plan. There's even a very good business case to be made for a certain country to shoot down the GPS sats. Step one would be to fund your own GPS system, but it would be a system employing strong cryptography so that only paying customers could make use of it. Step two is, destroy or disable the present GPS. In the decade or so that it would take to build another free GPS, you have the market cornered and can charge literally whatever you want. Business that depend on GPS will pay.And the down-side? Like I said, a few cruise missiles, UN sanctions that few countries will abide, not too big a deal. Nobody is going to nuke you for shooting down satellites. Nobody is going to invade over this, and kill thousands of civilians that had nothing to do with the scam. (No blood for geolocation)Anyway, it's far fetched, but nonetheless something to keep in mind.

I'm sure the U.S. Government won't mind, even though the military highly depends on it!Think I'll go pick up a new ADF for $3500+ right now!!!:-lol :-lol :-lol
