December 21, 20169 yr Does anyone how to disable the wheel. When turning knobs and wheels, a small deviation of the mouse and the panel view increases or decreases. It's not my idea of using the mouse wheel. tony
December 21, 20169 yr I wouldn't want the mouse wheel to be disabled: I do however want the zoom option with the mouse disabled when in VC view. I asked about this before but it seems it is not possible to do so. Oddly enough. I also hate it when I suddenly zoom in or out because I moved the mouse or viewpoint a little: that happens a lot with those tiny clickspots and specially when you use TrackIR. (Yes, I know you can pause TrackIR but I don't want to paise it everytime I need to change a setting in the VC...)
December 21, 20169 yr That's one of the reasons why i prefer click+drag (like it's done in the IXEG or FlyJSim planes) over mouse wheel for knobs anytime. When I switched from FSX/P3D to X-Plane, i thought that mouse wheel support for turning knobs was essential, and it took me a few days getting used to the "new" concept. Turns out, I now always turn off mouse wheel for buttons in planes that support this (e.g. FF 767/757), because I just find it uncomfortable and prefer the other methods.
December 21, 20169 yr The Quest Kodiak has a menu option to disable the zoom wheel, so it is possible. Maybe someone could write a universal plug in for that.
December 21, 20169 yr Author It should be clear to the developers that in a "shaking cockpit", the mouse wheel controlling definite location switches is not practical. I hope they address this. tony
December 22, 20169 yr It should be clear to the developers that in a "shaking cockpit", the mouse wheel controlling definite location switches is not practical. Well, they fought against this feature for more than 3 years, with exactly these arguments, but many users claimed to know it better... They finally gave in in X-Plane 10.50. And I don´t think that they will take it back. It is one of several control options, so it is the jobof the designer of the aircraft, to choose, which control works best. Karsten Schubert
