Gauge Luminosity in FSX?

Recommended Posts

I have a panel with many gauges. Several of the gauges are from different .cab files. One set of the .cab file gauges are luminous and bright red. The other set is not luminous.

When I edit each gauge in both .cab files the bmp's both have Luminous="Yes"

What sets the luminosity? I have changed the luminous r,b.g values at the end of the panel.cfg with no changes. The one set of gauges are luminous with no luminosity values set in the panel.cfg.

What is the difference between Bright abd Luminous?

Can a gauge be bright and luminous?

Thanks, Bob.

Bob, in my White Paper from many years ago, I wrote about the difference between luminous and bright:

The other critically important issue is that of the gauges themselves. In previous versions of FS there were only two choices for internal gauge lighting: 1) Luminous and 2) Bright. The Luminous tag will apply the color and intensity to the tagged gauge bitmaps, based on the Luminous= entry in the panel.cfg file. The Bright tag will apply full intensity WHITE (RGB:255,255,255) to the selected gauge bitmaps.
