What are Nova/Nova gold textures?

Featured Replies

Hi,After downloading quite a few scenery files, I've discovered that some of them require nova gold textures. Also in (forget his name's) FS2004 Hints and Tricks, there is a strong recommendation for these textures. First of all, what are they and what do they do? Secondally how do you install them and what difference will I see. CheersTristan

Nova is a scenery design program and comes with a set of textures used by the program for it's objects. A lot of scenery designers use these simple tools to make custom objects. You also use these textures to design your own macros(buildings/cars/hangars,etc) and since these things use those textures you need them either in the texture folder of your flightsim or in the sceneries folder itself. Most sceneries come with them but not all. If you go to simviation and search under the scenery utilities you will find two sets, one Nova, and one Nova Gold, which is just a second addition to the first set. I also recommend the Airport for Windows textures If your using some older sceneries. If you put the textures into the flightsim texture folder the objects created with these programs will show up correctly. If you dont have them these objects will appear white or gray.Hornit

G'day Tristan, Nova and Novd gold are textures developed for a Airport building program called Nova. The developer has made his many textures avaliable to all of us as freeware. As many scenery designers use these textures in their work it is important to have them installed in FS2004 or FS2002. Scenery that you download from the net will likely call for these textures and as they are numerous they will not be included in the downloaded scenery, therefore for the scenery to display correctly you are required to have them in your main Flight Simm texture folder. If you don't the scenery will diplay with blank squares wherever the scenery designer used the textures. You can get them at most of the FS site or I would recommend you getthem from Nova direct. http://www.fsnova.com/ and they go in the main texture folder, FS9/texturesHope this helps.Clive M. Cheers guys,Yeah I'll check it out. I downloaded Adelaide international of Avsim, which uses Nova textues. I gotta tell ya, this is the best freeware airport i've downloaded so far. It has posty vans driving around and really cool looking gum trees surrouning the airport. I really felt I was at Adelaide. Happy flying and tally hoTristan
