December 17, 200520 yr Hey everyone, When I have a crash, FS9 places a text version of my FS.cfg next to the original, I usually throw the text version to the recycle bin. I am wondering, does the original cfg get modified in anyway? In other words, which version is the good one after a crash? I never knew why it puts a text backup in the apps folder. I have also noticed a scenery.cfg file getting placed in my apps folder now and then when I have a crash. Again, I don't know which one to keep. Thanks for your help. It's late here, so forgive me for spelling and such. Best regards, Jeff
December 17, 200520 yr I don't think it's a crash, it's a backup of FS9.cfg made after every sim session or when changes are made to it. Move the FS9.cfg out of the folder, rename FS9,cfg.txt to FS9.cfg and see if your pre-changes settings are back.Allcott
December 17, 200520 yr Jeff - The .txt files are created after a crash so that the data can be sent to MS. You can delete the .txt files as they are not used by FS9. Nothing is changed in the .cfg files.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. December 17, 200520 yr Author Thanks guys for your replies. Doug, that is good to know. I always delete the text file and the scenery file if it's there as well. I believe they can slow things down if left in the folder.Best regards, Jeff
