New Issue with LINDA

Recommended Posts

Happening to myself and another chap. Pete thinks issue is LINDA related. See linked thread from Pete Dowson's forum:

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/82759-fsuipc-failed-to-initialize/

I'm on P3D v3.3.5 and latest LINDA and latest fsuipc. Started happening after upgrading LINDA from v 2.7.x and fsuipc to the latest version as well (did both on same day). After clicking "retry" on the error pop up box that comes up everything works as it should. Also getting an error in fsuipc saying I am missing something. I have everything that came with the latest LINDA download version and have not deleted anything!

Thank you for the error report. I know what is wrong. In future please follow the reporting procedure to email the logs rather than paste them in the thread.

You have nothing assigned to your joystick for the default aircraft. Load a default aircraft (C172 or Beechcraft 58) and open the Joystick page. Then simply make an assignment. If you had previously had LINDA working, you can copy the config-hid.lua file from the /modules/linda-cfg/aircrafts/FSX Default backup that I know you made.

The FSUIPC4.INI pop up message you got it simply because LINDA and FSUIPC4 were trying to access it at the same time. Clicking Retry will overcome this problem.

To ScotFlieger.

Hi thanks for your reply reference the Linda retry popup.

I am a little unclear about making a joystick assignment to prevent the problem in P3D.

I can confirm hitting retry works fine.

Regards

Andy

Hi Andy

The log posted by B777ER shows that he also had a missing FSX Default config-hid.lua file. This defines joystick button assignments that apply to all aircraft (like zoom in/out) before being modified by individual aircraft setups. My answer explained how to fix that particular problem.

Thank you for confirming that Retry worked. I have changed the wording to make it clearer for future releases.

But it's never popped up in the past. Why now and on a consistent basis it does as well.....

Simply because the check and message was not in LINDA 2.7.x.

How do you start LINDA? Do you start it manually or when your Flt sim starts?

It starts automatically with P3D. I get the splash screen that comes up for LINDA and then it goes to the minimized state. Anyway to simply have LINDA just "retry" without user intervention?

I only see the dialog very occasionally. Can you try changing the setting so that LINDA does not minimise of start?

LINDA makes a number of attempts to retry. Without this step LINDA will have issues running correctly?

I have amended the code that triggered the "fsuipc4.ini could not be opened" warning dialog and removed the dialog completely in the next release. No release date at present.

Thanks, will keep an eye out for the next release. Guess we can mark this a solved.
