AMAZINGNever thought it could get any better...But one thing, I didn't see the haze until I was actually very close to LAX. Is this only because that station was reporting low vis and nothing else around it?

>Guys, how is the ASv6 doing?>>Hope this helps,>Jim>ActiveSky Sales and Support>http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg>http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpgAmazing! Are you kidding! Now I just need to stop flying into and around SoCal, since the last three flights into there have been in haze. I like to see my runway once and a while. It doesn't help that my arrivals have been at night, where it seems to be that way all the time. Not an Active Sky issue, just the fact the ocean brings in fog into the coast so much.

Nice! That PMDG bird is a good one to do it in too as it actually simulates CATIII and autoland capabilities. I've gotten so used to the EFIS/MAP configuration that the PFD/ND configuration you're using almost looks funny to me.----------------------------------------------------------------John MorganReal World: KGEG, UND Aerospace Spokane Satillite, Private ASEL 141.2 hrs, 314 landings, 46 inst. apprs.Virtual: MSFS 2004"There is a feeling about an airport that no other piece of ground can have. hiyes i think i was so close to minimums that i did do a full CAT111 autoland, yes i have set it at the PFD/ND because thats how they do it in the real world.

And... that is not as bad as it gets. Ive landed with 300 feet vis.... come out of the fog above the runway, and you dont see it until down the runway. Was at the beach yesterday morning, Visibility was about 30-50 feet in early morning and WAVES too high for me to go surfing.

The LA area was a great place to get an instrument rating. You could almost always find actual inst conditions. My favorite was Orange county airport (now John Wayne). We used to joke about the LA wx report. They could just about can it.It would be......... "There will be late night and early morning low clouds. Followed in the afternoon by hazy sunshine." I'll never forget that. :()

Depends on the airline. America West and Southwest use EFIS/MAP, as far as I'm aware, because of some regulation in the FARs that requires they use it if they want their pilots in the classic fleet to also be able to fly the NGs.----------------------------------------------------------------John MorganReal World: KGEG, UND Aerospace Spokane Satillite, Private ASEL 141.2 hrs, 314 landings, 46 inst. apprs.Virtual: MSFS 2004"There is a feeling about an airport that no other piece of ground can have.
