February 28, 20179 yr Has anyone tried the GPS Inhibit function in the FMS? When I select this option the IRS becomes the position sensor for the FMS, but it jumps a few hundred miles. Anyone else seeing this too?
February 28, 20179 yr yes, perfectly normal, IRS drift Geoff fernandez Simulator: Prepar3D 4.2 | A2A Comanche, MJC8, Leonardo MD-82, FSL320-X, NGX Simulator: XP11 | FFA320 U, IXEG 737 Classic, JF Hawk T1, JF C152
March 1, 20179 yr Quote yes, perfectly normal, IRS drift hundreds of miles? Perhaps if you've been flying around the globe a few times without re-aligning your IRUs at every airport. According to the Boeing Maintenance Manual, statistically, the drift rate should be less than 2nm per hour for 95% of the time. If the error is more than 35nm for a flight of say 10 hours, the IRU should be replaced. If the error is more than 25nm for two consecutive 10 hour flights, the IRU should be replaced (this is assuming the IRUs are re-aligned after each flight). There are tables in the Boeing manuals which help you determine if the IRUs are inoperative. Cheers JHW John H Watson (retired 744/767 Avionics engineer)
March 8, 20179 yr Thanks for the replies, I fully re-align after every sector, it works normally now, perhaps it has something to do that I re-positioned the aircraft on the ground (select airport in FSX) on that flight, normally don't do that. anyways it works alright now. thanks! Rico van Dijk
March 8, 20179 yr Whoops, it happened again, now I'm sure it's a bug. I captured it with two screenshots. in the first you can see the position jumped way off (not immediate, but short after inhibiting the GPS). with the result of the aircaft banking to return to course. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=879413503 Only a few moments later it jumped back into the correct position. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=879413526 Rico van Dijk
