January 2, 200620 yr Due to the nature of the computers each one of us uses ( a myriad different configurations) Im not sure this will work for most of you but after 2 hours of testing I thought Id just jump on here and share my experience. My FS9 has gotten a great boost in performance with Hyper Threading on the Pentium IV chip *disabled*. Previously I was unable to run the sim in Windowed mode (which I prefer) without major stuttering, now its silky smooth. I tested this by using the same settings (terrain detail, autogen level etc.) with HT on and off. I do not understand why this is...and TBH I dont care lol...the sim really is running smoother and faster (although load-times are the same). Apart from that I have noticed Windows is faster too. Bootups are rocket-like and so are shutdowns.Wierdness....but *good* wierdness :(
January 2, 200620 yr Can you tell me how to diable HT? There is no option for it in my bios as it is an HP computer and is very limited in its configurability. Thanks,Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
January 2, 200620 yr Jeff - unfortunately the only way I know of turning HT on and off *is* through the BIOS. If there is another way then perhaps an Avsimmer better versed in Windows will tell you.Are you positive theres not an option for it in your BIOS? Mine is under the "processor" heading.
January 2, 200620 yr Yeah, unfortunaely my bios only let's me change a very limited number of things, I've checked it and rechecked it after someone else gave the same advice as you. I was hoping someone would know another way to disable it.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
January 2, 200620 yr Author Turning off HT on the entire PC is not necessary...it will suffice to force FS9 to run on a single virtual CPU with HT otherwise active.
