Add-on voices not available in voice configuration

Recommended Posts

I'm using beta 7.2 and trying to install additional voices. I installed the 4 male and 1 female VOXPOP voices and I can select them from the Voice Configuration utility. I then installed VisionAid American English Ivona Voice Pack and VisionAid International English Vocalizer Voice Pack. They show as installed in Control Panel/Programs but there are no new voices available in the Voice Configuration utility. I thought that after installation they'd be available to select in the utility. Is there some step after installation of these 2 products that has to be done to be able to use them in VoxATC? Thanks...Bob

The voices must be 32 bit and SAPI 5 compatible. First, check in the Windows Control  Panel to make sure that they show up as working in the OS as such.

cant help really, never had a problem using voices in vox.

I added a pile of cereproc voices as they do some good regional UK ones recently and they all are used fine in beta 7.2

Same here. The IVONA consumer voices for Windows work in VOXATC, but I'm not sure about their  commercial  and specialty voices. It might be a Windows  registry  issue. The TTS voices show  up in 4 locations  in the Windows  registry  and VOXATC  only examines two of them if I'm not mistaken.

Correct, 32 bit programs (VoxATC, Pilot2ATC, MCE) can only use 32 bit voices!.

However, going to Windows Control Panel on Windows x64, speech reco applet will actually show you the 64 Bit voices. To see which 32 Bit voices are installed, you need to look under C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\ and run "Sapi.cpl" which is the 32 Bit panel that handles 32 Bit voices.

I'm not aware of any speech based program for FSX/P3D/FS9 that uses 64 Bit voices.
